His BB/9 in AAA Toledo was 1.64 and 2.81 the past 2 seasons. BB/9 in AAA Buffalo is 5.93 (SSS). Over the past 3-4 years, it is remarkable how many pitchers have gone to AAA Buffalo and immediately started walking 2-3 times more than they have elsewhere. Spanky__99 1

So yeah I do worry and it's not foolish. We have precedent. That was a legit terrible pen though, and Montoyo continually trotted out guys like Chatwood to blow games and prove some point to the front office. Not the same

That way if it goes off the rails you can have your "I told ya so's" but if it goes great you can enjoy the success and winning with the rest of us. Wow. You nailed it. Good job unveiling my sinister plot.

Not the same Montoyo had very few effective choices in his pen that season and there wasn't really an alternative to hoping Chatwood/Dolis etc. turned things around. I do recall one egregious instance where Montoyo left Chatwood in a game where he obviously didn't have it to prove a point who was the boss, and this led directly to a loss. That team just so happened to miss the playoffs by a single game.

Just wait for a mess up during the post season

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago Not a big fan of that challenge. Glad he got it right.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago Cease's stuff can be down right nasty - the change up acts a bit like a knuckle ball
