BB/9 in AAA Buffalo is 5.93 (SSS).  Over the past 3-4 years, it is remarkable how many pitchers have gone to AAA Buffalo and immediately started walking 2-3 times more than they have elsewhere.

That was a legit terrible pen though, and Montoyo continually trotted out guys like Chatwood to blow games and prove some point to the front office.

Not the same

Montoyo had very few effective choices in his pen that season and there wasn't really an alternative to hoping Chatwood/Dolis etc. turned things around. I do recall one egregious instance where Montoyo left Chatwood in a game where he obviously didn't have it to prove a point who was the boss, and this led directly to a loss. That team just so happened to miss the playoffs by a single game.
