To be fair they went after Tucker by all accounts. And signed arguably the best SP available.

But the Dodgers got Tucker and the best closer available. We could have really used both but they probably didn't really want to come here.

All that said hard to feel great about the team right now.

Agreed but bottom line is that other teams offered a contract to the players that they wanted.  You get paid the money they do in the professional ranks to get the job done, not make an effort.

If we couldnt offer the contracts to the players we wanted then you need to find a way to make a trade.  You cant cry wolf when you have a 300M Payroll yourself lol.

They offered Tucker a 10 year deal with a big AAV.  He chose the Dodgers and a ridiculous AAV.  This wasn’t a case of them cheating out.  They were shopping at the top and couldn’t convince all of them to come.  Going after other options wouldn’t have moved the dial a lot.

Barger may still be the impact bat we want on the corner.  It’s too early to judge this year.

Agreed.  Problem is that we are in a World Series or bust type of year after how last season finished.  It does feel weird that we are asking a guy in Barger who has never been THAT guy to help carry a team with a 300M payroll.

These are crazy expectations but it is what it is.  Its also why theyre charging the prices they are to get into the stadium now.

Dodger 18 Jays 0

Dodgers 7 Blue Jays 6 (blow lead heartbreaking things in extra innings, random craziness just to make people feel sick)

Dodgers 14 Jays 1

Jays 4-8

Sadness high.  Hope never.  Rebuild Starts though and hopefully Jo Jo Parkeris not Kevin Ahrens.

No really, we just need keep Gausman , So we will have 4 good SP, Vlad, Okamoto, Clement, Kirk, Barger, Gimenes  are still here, and if we don't keep Springer, Straw, Varsho, Santander, Atkins will have plenty of cash to find replacement next year.

Yup, i remember having these exact concerns about the offense early last year and we know how that turned out.

Nobody’s opinion of anything on this team should be changed after 1 week of games. Lets reconvene in May.

I don’t know man Nance, Little and Hoffman picked up where they left off last season.

Sure Little did ok today but it was against the worst team baseball with zero pressure because they were already losing.

Have to be a moron to throw Hoffman in the same group as those other guys

Did you see the type of contact he was making today? Here you are making fun of Barger but hes our damn cleanup hitter and you were ridiculing me when I said our offense was the big question mark this season.

Just say "I agree with everything team does" and it'll save us from having to read your hindsight posts lol.

Tell that to the Dodgers who decided to get even better after winning the world series lol

One thing we can agree, the Jays have the WORST number 2 and 4 hitters of all contending teams in baseball.  Vladdy continuing his playoff level performance was the only thing saving us but if he repeats his 2025 regular season, we are going to struggle to score enough runs.

Hopefully we can address this at the deadline.

Look at the damn Dodgers lineup and look at ours.  They beat us and still added Tucker to a stacked lineup.  We swapped Bo for Okamoto, and made 0 other additions to improve there.

The problem wasnt they were too cheap.  They spent money but got depth/fringe players instead of top end talent.  Its like they wanted to raise their floor but neglected their ceiling.

WTF are you ready to jump off of a cliff after a week's worth of baseball games? Grow a set of balls for crying out loud, this is becoming absurd even based on the extremely low set of standards you've set for your posts. Maybe we could wait even a month or two before pressing the panic button as at that point we'll actually have a more representative sample of games to gauge the team's strengths and weaknesses.

But no, just a complete emotional idiot

I am gonna assume this is tongue in cheek given this was you in the last GDT

There's a difference between letting off a few F bombs v. suggesting we should fire the FO/coaches, ripping the Manager on every decision he makes that backfires and/or bragging about how you told everyone that Player X is garbage”

Just some deranged trolling, he did the same last season and it's annoying AF.

The guy has the emotional intelligence of a toddler, but that might actually be insulting to toddlers.

No one's jumping off any bandwagon.  I just didnt think our offseason was as good as many.

We are still one of the best teams in the AL thats playing like crap thus far.

Half the posters in this thread must believe that:

Chase Delauter is going to hit more than 100 bombs.

Kyle Tucker will OPS under 700 this season.

paul Skenes is a bum with an ERA over 9.

The other half knows it has only been a week and you can’t read much into it.  Choose your side.

There’s no coming back from blowing a save in Game 7 of the World Series.

He’s already blown 2 saves in week one. lol

Against the Athletics and White Sox, ugh

lets see how he would perform next week versus the Dodgers if given the opportunity once again to save a game.

I think there’s a better chance of a position player pitching the top of the 9th than a save opportunity for Jeff Hoffman. lol

Jeff Hoffman has literally struck out 55% of the guys he's faced this year lol

Against the Athletics, Rockies and White Sox. The other 45% are scoring runs. lol

Cool stat but there’s 3 outs in an inning and he struck out half of them. The other half are scoring runs.

I'm not sure you really understand what you're watching, so I'll just concede that you're 100% correct on all points.

Its not even worth arguing with these guys, they’re gonna think what they want. Ball knowledge 0

Im watching a team that could have easily been 0-7 right now against the 3 worst teams in baseball and the White Sox aren’t even finished with them yet.

Then the Dodgers are going to come embarrass the f*ck out of them. lol

Hilarious how offended some of these guys get if you express displeasure for playing like s***.  Its ok to admit we need to do better.

Theres a reason why Vladdy was in the cages right after the game because he knows he has to do better.  Guys in major US markets get these reminders in person very frequently...

It’s a team sport

the offense are equally at fault when leaving runners in scoring position

Way Too early and many games to go and be worried about it.

Offense has to limit Hoff’s opportunities for blown saves LOL

Concerns are valid though as a die hard fan, unfair to say you have zero knowledge of the game.
