But the Dodgers got Tucker and the best closer available. We could have really used both but they probably didn't really want to come here. All that said hard to feel great about the team right now. Agreed but bottom line is that other teams offered a contract to the players that they wanted. You get paid the money they do in the professional ranks to get the job done, not make an effort. If we couldnt offer the contracts to the players we wanted then you need to find a way to make a trade. You cant cry wolf when you have a 300M Payroll yourself lol.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3 Posted April 3 9 minutes ago, mphenhef said: They offered Tucker a 10 year deal with a big AAV. He chose the Dodgers and a ridiculous AAV. This wasn’t a case of them cheating out. They were shopping at the top and couldn’t convince all of them to come. Going after other options wouldn’t have moved the dial a lot. Barger may still be the impact bat we want on the corner. It’s too early to judge this year. Agreed. Problem is that we are in a World Series or bust type of year after how last season finished. It does feel weird that we are asking a guy in Barger who has never been THAT guy to help carry a team with a 300M payroll. These are crazy expectations but it is what it is. Its also why theyre charging the prices they are to get into the stadium now.

Hope never. Rebuild Starts though and hopefully Jo Jo Parkeris not Kevin Ahrens. No really, we just need keep Gausman , So we will have 4 good SP, Vlad, Okamoto, Clement, Kirk, Barger, Gimenes are still here, and if we don't keep Springer, Straw, Varsho, Santander, Atkins will have plenty of cash to find replacement next year.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted April 3 Posted April 3 The Blue Jays on Friday signed left-hander Patrick Corbin to a one-year, $1 million contract and optioned him to Single-A Dunedin. https://www.mlb.com/news/patrick-corbin-blue-jays-contract Spanky__99 1

Nobody’s opinion of anything on this team should be changed after 1 week of games. Lets reconvene in May. I don’t know man Nance, Little and Hoffman picked up where they left off last season. Sure Little did ok today but it was against the worst team baseball with zero pressure because they were already losing.

Here you are making fun of Barger but hes our damn cleanup hitter and you were ridiculing me when I said our offense was the big question mark this season. Just say "I agree with everything team does" and it'll save us from having to read your hindsight posts lol. 2 hours ago, Jays24 said: Tell that to the Dodgers who decided to get even better after winning the world series lol 2 hours ago, Jays24 said: One thing we can agree, the Jays have the WORST number 2 and 4 hitters of all contending teams in baseball. Vladdy continuing his playoff level performance was the only thing saving us but if he repeats his 2025 regular season, we are going to struggle to score enough runs. Hopefully we can address this at the deadline. 2 hours ago, Jays24 said: Look at the damn Dodgers lineup and look at ours. They beat us and still added Tucker to a stacked lineup. We swapped Bo for Okamoto, and made 0 other additions to improve there. 2 hours ago, Jays24 said: The problem wasnt they were too cheap. They spent money but got depth/fringe players instead of top end talent. WTF are you ready to jump off of a cliff after a week's worth of baseball games? Grow a set of balls for crying out loud, this is becoming absurd even based on the extremely low set of standards you've set for your posts. Maybe we could wait even a month or two before pressing the panic button as at that point we'll actually have a more representative sample of games to gauge the team's strengths and weaknesses. No one's jumping off any bandwagon. I just didnt think our offseason was as good as many. We are still one of the best teams in the AL thats playing like crap thus far.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Hilarious how offended some of these guys get if you express displeasure for playing like s***. Its ok to admit we need to do better. Theres a reason why Vladdy was in the cages right after the game because he knows he has to do better. Guys in major US markets get these reminders in person very frequently...

Offense has to limit Hoff’s opportunities for blown saves LOL Concerns are valid though as a die hard fan, unfair to say you have zero knowledge of the game. Go Jays !
