Like who has a front of a rotation pitcher who would need a CF that badly? Varsho and his .222/.290 projection isn't landing a TOR pitcher anyway Only thing I can even think of is the Royals, for Kris Boob Itch. They have Isbel as their CF and he's basically Myles Straw.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 I'm alright signing Varsho to a Kirk like extension. I think that is fair value and he likely would accept it. As for trades, probably the Royals are the best trading partners like some other posters have mentioned since they need a CF badly.
RobinThicc Verified Member Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 Boras client, he ain’t extending.

And what contender wants to trade a top end starter ever. These type of deals don't happen usually.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 If the Jays are trading Varsho (don't think they will), then they'd have to have someone a lot better than Straw in CF. If Lukes could play a passable CF then that would make more sense, or maybe try for a follow up trade for Buxton (he has a NTC so probably not likely). If Varsho is a Boras guy then they might be better off just using him in 2026, hoping for a big year, and then qualifying him after the season. Who knows what the new CBA will be after that. Funky 1
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 14, 2025 Posted November 14, 2025 Daulton Varsho is 5'8" and 207 lbs I agree that he should be extended Maybe some kind of leg implant procedure could bring him up to 5'11"? He'd lose some athleticism but he'd look better in pictures Orgfiller 1

He'd lose some athleticism but he'd look better in pictures There is a procedure in theory whereby the bones of the leg are severed with a saw and the resulting healing adds about a millemeter to ones height each time. There is hope for ole pigeon toes with enough successful operations.

I dont think they'd be trading varsho, but if they dont extend him, I could see them trading for plan B like they did for Gimenez a year prior to Bo's free agency. Getting ahead of that potential scenario where Bo walks and you already have a capable SS in house paid off big time with his injury... and will lessen he blow if he does leave to a blockbuster offer. They could do the same thing with CF, just not sure who they would be targeting.
