Secondly, you never get full book value for cards anyways. A sports collectible shop likely gives you 50% of what the card is actually worth or less, since they need to then sell it afterwards.

I don’t care to learn the ins and outs of the stock market and haven’t been able to put anything away, even 401k, paying hundreds of thousands for private hs and college for my son, but this is his semester and I’m figuring out my future investment strategy. Besides taking advantage of my 401k match, my safe option is fractional commercial real estate investing. But my son got big into cards as a hobby. All sports and Pokemon too, which I’ll draw the line at lol. However, Pokemon is +46% returns this year and the market seems to have a future with sports too. I’m not getting into the Pokemon/Magic type stuff, but I’m putting in time on baseball card research for now and was wondering if anyone had tips on it. It seems to be kind of higher stake gambling, buying prospects before they explode, but also I’m trying to figure out the viability if getting future HOF cards and holding for 20 years etc. Seems it can easily beat the S&P 500 if you’re good. If I’m going to gamble on a stock, that seems like a fun way to do it, Stock market is your best investment. There's tons of money in it. Put your time into it first! Learn the ropes, experience is the key with the Market. Around 30 years ago the DOW was around 5k. Now it's near 50k. That's just an index. An experienced stock market investor should double or triple that.
