I feel like the return can't be as good as his potential

His potential is elite starter. He'll never come close to it. Best case for him is an elite closer.

Not knowing the return (Cubs do have a good farm though) but this is an odd trade, Pearson doesn't have that much value right now plus he has 2 more years of control...

Double A SS based on their top 30 is probably Josh Rivera, and his numbers are ass. Will wait to see what the return is. Pearson isn’t exactly a high value asset so not expecting much.

Matt Shaw has split his time between 3B/2B/SS at AA but I'm not holding my breath on that one

If the Jays got Matt Shaw for Pearson, I promise I will run naked across the field at the Rogers center with I love Ross Atkins painted across my butt cheeks.

Getting rid of Nate after his full season healthy even though he was up and down could be a stupid move unless the prospect coming back is just flat out better.

Why the f*** are Shatkins still here when it's obvious their eye for prospects sucks ass man. Not a comment for this transaction in particular but just everything to do with this franchise.

Pinango dominated A+ early in the season and has been league average in his first taste of AA. Has played exclusively in the corner OF since 2022 and mostly LF.

as expected, gave him a way for pracitcally nothing. Pinango was the cubs #47 ranked prospect according to Fangraphs heading into 2024. Has anything changed?

Pinango is 28th ranked Cubs prospect at present, and is supposed to be only 1 of 2 players coming back from the Cubs in this trade. What do you think that career 5.11 FIP Nate Pearson should have brought back in return?

So we got the Cubs 43rd and 47th ranked prospects? Both of them must be flying up the charts this year or else we're giving up on a guy who finally remained healthy even if he's up and down currently.

nothing which is why you keep him plus he has 2 more years of control. Plus I'm just going by Fangraphs rankings

Your fangraphs rating is from before the season started, the one I provided is the mid season update. Both of Baseball America and MLB Pipeline place these two players in the Cubs top 30. I would guess the fact that Nate is out of options for next season likely also plays into the club moving him out despite the fact he's finally managed to remain healthy.
