CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Teo return in LF next Season with DH time once Varsho takes over in Center sounds like a decent option. Lets pray Shatkins get it right
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Won $140 with my Teo bet haha! What a show! Really happy for Teo! Such a likeable player!
Auldphartt Verified Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Teoscar for Swanson? Oh wait, they got a prospect thrown in. Almost as great a trade as Grichuck for Tapia.

Never was a fan of the Teo/Swanson trade. You shouldn't have to trade an everyday player who was a middle-of-the-order bat for a reliever. Gotta hope Macko contributes soon and is the difference maker in the trade, since Swanson looks toast now.

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Where's the "BACK, BACK, BACK" guy? That would be Chris Berman. One of the problems with yesterdays HR Derby was just that, the in park announcer and the ESPN announcers were talking over each other. Very annoying. They need to go back to the old format

They need to go back to the old format They should really consider making it a lot shorter. Maybe 15 pitches per round. You can then avoid fatigue and let the batters go max effort. I found the event kind of boring to be honest.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Gotta hope Macko pans out better than Pinto. Imagine complaining about a lottery ticket like Pinto (who's put up a 116 wRC+ at age 19 and 20 in Single A ball) when the player we gave up was Randal Grichuk...

Why do we always forget that we used the money we would have had to pay Teo to sign KK, who was better than Teo last year. We essentially got Swanson and Macko for free. But burn Atkins on the cross!

The fatique is a big issue - I'm sure some are passing this up due to that
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 They could have signed Teo back this year lol. And kept Swanson + prospect. The trade was fine, give it a rest. They didn’t try every hard as they didn’t value him at the break up and didn’t value him much more in FA. Poor defender. A lot of people here wanted to move on for the same reason.

But you can't deny he was always a great bat for us, clutch hitter, good attitude, and he had an absolute cannon of an arm in RF. His defense has seemed to improve since he left Toronto too. Could have been a positioning issue in the field.

Could have been a positioning issue in the field. I'm not so sure about that. I do think at the start of the year, he was providing some positive defense, but his def is now -7.6 at the all-star break. He's on pace for one of his worst defensive seasons to date.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Holy f*** that was one of the worst anthem attempts i’ve ever seen. Grammy-nominated?? Jesus christ She came out and said she was drunk and has checked into a rehab this morning. An apology was issued. If true, then that's sad, but good on her for recognizing the problem and taking steps to deal with it.

Either way, it appears she handled it fairly well (after the fact).

If people don’t think you have any genuine talent, they’ll bail.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 She’s got concerts coming up in the next week that i saw in the article I read. Let’s see if you cancels them or not

Even look at Vladdy yesterday at the HR Derby, gave him a Blue Jays jersey and was coaching him during the HR Derby. You can tell Teo definitely had a positive impact on Vladdy when he was in Toronto. Even for that reason, would consider bringing Teo back especially if they sign Vladdy long term.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Yeah, before everyone gets nostalgic about Teo don't forget about his 200+ strikeouts in 2023. You really wanted to pay him $25M for another 200k's in Toronto? We would have been better with him but I understand the reason we passed. Also not one other team seemed to have offered him a multi year deal. They didn't all get stupid overnight.
