Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 With last nights embarrassing loss and the rotten state of the farm system we can call the Shapiro era over. He may stay to the end of his contract but it is done and here are the final outcomes (some predicted but obvious predictions) for everyone involved Shapiro - gets to be commissioner Blue Jays farm system - destroyed Ross Atkins - probably gets to be assistant commissioner John Schneider - gets forever employment as 3rd base or bench coach or scout even if he doesn't get another managers job Rogers Stadium - Have to say it actually looks very nice Playoff Wins - 0 Vladimir Guerrero Jr - Will sign 10 year 370 million contract with Red Sox who put final fixes on Launch angle and goes on to have several .350 .450 .650 years for them Bo Bichette - Signs with some team and plays well for many more years. Teoscar Hernandez - Hangs around having fun and helping playoff teams Danny Jansen - now a vet catcher signs with some playoff bound team Alejandra Kirk - goes on the weight loss drug and has some Russel Martin years for a well run but financially limited team. and finally.. Blue Jays fans: Generations of sadness watching the other teams have joy! OK. That's enough. Too long to read on the phone already. If you have any other predicted outcomes for Shapiro era players let me know!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 Alex Anthopolous - Goes on to win World Series and be front office man of the year (that one is true it already happened) John Gibbons - has some podcast from his Texas ranch in between cushy coaching/scouting jobs former managers get. Maybe John Schneider will someday help with the podcast in between his cushy coaching/scouting jobs.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 More Shapiro era outcomes... Mike Wilner - gets fired from radio announcer job and is now a podcaster and twitter personality but uses his twitter account to recruit people to Blue Sky or something. Other Blue Jays announcer - gets fired so they can hire Dan Schulman's son. Dan Shulman's son - has nice announcer job but has to announce from podcasting studio if Jays on road.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 More final outcomes for Shapiro era Blue Jays... Marcus Stroman - gets to go to the Yankees and yells at all the other Yankees when their defense isn't up to his standards (not sure how long he will be getting away with that...) Shohei Ohtani - Was actually going to sign with Blue Jays but turns out his translator had made a 200,000 dollar bet he would sign with the Dodgers. Baltimore Orioles - After getting beat by the sort of Shapiro Blue Jays (mostly made by AA) in 2016 wild card game, decide to hire Havard Wiz kids or something to make generational dynasty.

Ben Shulman kinda sucks on the radio not going to lie. I think he’s a little green but my expectations were a definitely higher
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Anthopoulis returns to the Jays in 2032 when his Atlanta contract expires. Now a cigar chomping grizzled executive 30lbs overweight. He decimates the Jays farm system through trades but puts together a potent lineup which go on to win the World Series in 2034. The MVP of that world series is 35 year old DH Vladdy Jr. Vladdy goes into the HOF years later as a Red Sox where he played the majority of his career. Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins are nowhere to be seen as they had left baseball in 2026 to go into a joint Florida real estate venture. They did not have much success in the real estate world but someone heard Ross Atkins mention that it was early in the venture and he was not overly concerned.

Anthopoulos bringing the World Series back to Canada and breaking the Shapiro curse would be a legacy move. At that point he is easily a HOF executive. People here would still pout about the prospects he traded in the 2010s.

mikepelfrey Verified Member Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Anthopoulos would love that. It broke his heart to leave his beloved Canada but I doubt it would happen because of the corporate people who didn’t support him in the first place. If expansion to Vancouver or Calgary ever happens I would guarantee he’d go there but I have a sneaky suspicion that MLSNE would do everything in their power to prevent such an expansion. We have the whole Markham situation where they torpedoed a 2nd franchise in the greater Toronto area. Shapiro and Atkins are bad, no question, but the corporate bastards in charge are downright EVIL Having lived in Calgary I am certain they could support a Major League team….

5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Whatever the case is, I DO NOT want these guys here for another rebuild. We gotta get some new management in here before the trade deadline. The last thing we need is another Daulton Varsho debacle.

That I 100% agree with, I never wanted Shatkins in the first place, they are the very definition of incompetent.

They have been here 10 years and no one can say they are excited about the future. You factor in their core/their contracts/their farm, I can't see any team worse than us. The only good thing is payroll at 240m hiding their deficiencies. Patch jobs are going to just bring this team to .500 and barely fighting for a spot. I think most fans here understand the makeup of this team and recognize there is no other way given the fact we probably have the worst farm in the majors now.
