Time to sell Shapiro, tie RA's hands and give C;ick the keys... BOOOOOOOO!!!!

Well, if getting our ass's handed to us by a team with about $100 million less in payroll isn't enough for the muckety mucks at Rogers to take a pause for thought, I don't know what is.

What an awful week, just terrible.

Honestly probably for the best. This team was a prime candidate to stand pat/add pieces at the deadline only to crater right after and still miss the playoffs.

Being good or bad is better than being mediocre/stuck in the middle, and this team is stinky which bodes well for the future

If my kids team was "out" of their tournament in Pittsburgh on Saturday, we were thinking of zipping over to Cleveland to catch the Jays game Sunday before returning home. Had all my kids with me and it was a chance to knock another stadium off their bucket list. Luckily we won enough that this didn't materialize...(albeit the kids would still have loved it).

Yeah we went from something like 1 game below .500, 2 or 3 games back of the WC with only the Twins and Red Sox ahead of us and a 25% playoff chance.

Now we are basically out of it barring a miracle, just a 5% chance.

Team Not Panicking is totally panicking. It's officially over lol.

Fire Atkins, sell all your impending free agent to help build the farm system and hope the new GM can retool this team with all the free agent money but more importantly, start building a damn farm system that can produce the "waves of talent" we were promised by Shapiro.

I would say the panicking probably started after Game 2 of the first sweep lol. After the second sweep there is nothing to panic about anymore. This team is almost certainly (but not officially!) cooked.

The Phillies went on a run like we would need to do 2 years ago but the chances are way too remote right now.

Yeah there are just too many issues with this team to realistically expect much of a run out of them. The bullpen is in shambles due to injury and underperformance, the rotation has been shaky as of late, and it seems that the offensive lineup always features half of it's members simultaneously in the midst of a deep slump.

If it was JUST the offense underperforming I could still see a sliver of hope

but with the bullpen being completely toast, Berrios pitching like an SP5, Gausman like an SP3.... no f***ing shot this year at all

Spencer Horwitz might lead the team in WAR in 350 PA

The funny thing now is that the offense actually should not be that bad going forward. They can sort of roll out 8 or 9 above average hitters most nights.

wRC+

Horwitz 2B - 197

Varsho CF - 103

Schneider LF - 115

Jansen C - 109

Vlad 1b - 125

Turner DH - 109

IKF 3B - 108

Bo SS - 87 but should be better than that c'mon

Pretty much just RF that is questionable, Springer looking like a corpse and Barger being a hacker. I say just play Barger of course, he's having okay PAs most of the time and hitting the ball hard. Barger 99 projected wRC+, Springer 104 to 110 but projections lag....

I'd be money that's a top half offense rest of way! lmao

Interesting that Barger seemingly swings at everything at the ML level. His career AAA BB% is like 14%.

It appears as though Barger has calmed down the chase tendencies in his second stint with the big league club. In his first trip to the majors he swung at 48% of pitches out of the strike zone, and in his return trip he's improved this to a much better 30% chase rate.
