Time to blow this team up, I'm done! Fire Schneider, get rid of all the dead weight. Get rid of Voglebach, Turner, Springer, Biggio, call up some prospects. Need to start a rebuild, this team is cooked.

Schneider may just have coached his last game for Toronto today. Completely demoralizing way to lose not only the game, but this series as well.

6 games under .500 and still a week to go in May!

Put JS out of his misery.

I want to see how this team responds to this loss against the Chisox, but man, that was a back breaker morally, not just for the fans but this dugout.

Yeah, I feel for the dugout more than anything. With all the positive mojo happening after the Varsho HR to just get kicked in the nuts is f***ing horrible.

I turned this on in the top of the 8th when I saw they were threatening a comeback. I saw Varsho’s home run, but still turned it back off when the top half of the inning was over because I figured they’d still blow it. Bad teams always find ways to lose.

Romano is/has been horrible going back a while in non save situations. Especially with the long ball. An elite pen knows how to keep the game close or tied and not just execute holds and saves.

Romano became the Jays closer in 2021 full time. Since then he's:

4th in saves with 102

39th in blown saves with 12

9th in ERA among relievers

And for all those who say "what about all the games he blows where it wasn't a save"

He's 18 wins vs 13 losses in the same time frame.

The best closer in baseball right now (Clase) is 13-19 since 2021 with 126 saves and is also the leader in blown saves with 24.

It ain't always pretty but we could a lot f***ing worse than Jordan Romano

This team is a prime example of why you can’t build a championship contender through free agency. They needed to continue to develop young players around Vlad and Bo. Now we have overpaid veteran roster deprived of talent.

They gotta think cutting ties with Springer altogether.

You have to draft and develop well to do this. And you have to hang on to your top talent. They have not done any of these things. Free Agency is very useful for augmenting your roster. But now we have an expensive old team that is not that good, with core pieces on the way out this year and next. We look a lot like the CWS a few years ago.

With the 2 best guys coming out of the pen too. Like what are you even supposed to do at this point? This team is just a terrible combination of underperforming, bad luck, and choking in the worst spots. Its just not a good roster.

Your post does not address my point. Romano had an over 6 ERA in 2023 in non save situations, haven’t even checked yet for 2024. And yea, ERA is not a good measure etc blah, blah blah.

Memorial Day weekend and not going to do a deep dive in HRs allowed non save etc. The fact is with RPs, what they did in 2021 doesn’t mean a hell of beans.

I am talking about non-save situations, he has not been an effective option the past 200 plus games. Fact.

First of all, I don't even know what your point was because I don't know what you posted. My response was towards the multiple posts s***ing on Romano calling him over rated etc.

Like, did I quote you? No

So don't assume it was a direct response to any point you may have been making.

2021

2022

2023

2024

All those stats I posted are FACTS and accumulated over a 3 1/4 season sample size.

He's only blown 12 saves in 3.25 seasons while saving the 4th most in all of MLB at 102

He's also only lost 13 games against 18 wins.

He's been absolutely and unequivocally effective. There is no way to argue against those numbers, which are FACTS.

Perhaps Shapiro and Co. felt like their hands were finally untied after leaving the frugal Cleveland org. They got a taste of luxury tax payroll and lost the plot. Like drunken sailors on shore leave for the first time in years they started to spend to build a winner and couldn't stop. With the impending renos at the dome they figured they could take a shortcut and buy their way into contention. Bo and Vladdy had other plans.

L54 for strawman maker of the year

What? He’d be better than Vlad

It’s certainly part of it. The Covid season fast tracked things and they started throwing money around banking Vlad and Bo being Superstars. It has resulted in 0 playoff wins a current team that’s nowhere near a playoff team.
