BTS Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Yeah, I think Roberts got a stern talking to lmao
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Isn't a >.500 record for 4 straight years and a playoff birth in 3 of the last 4 years (while missing a clean 4 for 4 by 1 game) a sustainable winner? I mean the Jays haven't been >.500 for 4 straight years since that run from '83 to '93. But yeah, that POS GM who hasn't even acquired a guy like Soto should be s*** on. One shouldn't underestimate how deep Gruber's hatred of Atkins runs. It's on par or greater than Grant's completely irrational hatred of Boston and the Red Sox.

Not with this watered down playoff system. How many division titles? How many playoff wins? You don't have to be a brain surgeon to make the playoffs with a top five payroll these days, but thanks anyway. Edit.. The teams in the 80s didn't have the money to spend like Rogers has today.
Marew Verified Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Almost getting ohtani was our World Series.

Then yes, I remember when the Blue Jays won a total of 4 playoff games and 0 division titles in the 80's (despite 7 straight years > .500). It was a f***ing glorious time to be alive. "It doesn't get any better than that".
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 The Dodgers can't even abide by the simple rule of "please don't discuss the FA process with the media." Imagine what it will be like for Ohtani when he joins that rat race in LA. The team will be spilling secrets and rumors about him constantly. The second he signs there someone will blurt out the name of his dog. The Dodgers won't be able to protect him from the paparazzi who will figure out who he's dating and will start harassing her. Way to go Dave, you f***ed it up. Dodgers are OUT
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 Wow, high praise from Mark Elias (the greatest GM since the late Branch Rickey).
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Wow, high praise from Mark Elias (the greatest GM since the late Branch Rickey). Jays are IN

"It doesn't get any better than that". Two divisions with the division winners getting through for a total of TWO playoff spots. Yes, it was a glorious time to be alive. We won the division in 85 and 89, but yeah keep throwing s*** out there. Unreal.. You got to be a liberal.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 Dodgers aren't out lol Sorry bud, I don't make the ground rules that was Ohtani and his team and the Dodgers broke it. They are officially OUT.

Who cares if Roberts opened up a bit about his feelings on the situation. He didn't discuss money, just a little Dodger intimidation for the rest of the league....
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I hope this doesn’t end up like Conmor’s dating life metaphorically. Goes on a website, gets so many responses from chicks he doesn’t know how he will juggle them all.. He is on the ultimate high and sure his sex and dating life look bright. Then one by one they whittle away for whatever reason and Connor is left alone and wacking off to girlswithburkas.jizz
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 The MLB offseason is going to get me through the Winter.......
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Its hilarious people thinking Dave Roberts saying we spoke to him is going to be a deciding factor. Ohtani isn't making a life altering decision about his future based on a manager talking to reporters.

Dodgers are officially OUT.

Well Atkins just commented on Ohtani's free agency saying they don't know when he will make a decision lol. Guess Jays are out too.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I think Shohei goes to the Dodgers and Soto is traded to the Jays......Jays should immediately flip him for Higgy and Nasty Nestor, (and Ben Rortvedt if possible). Get 5 catchers and stack the market.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 Well Atkins just commented on Ohtani's free agency saying they don't know when he will make a decision lol. Guess Jays are out too. That's different
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Worst case scenario you have a bunch of catchers to catch pitchers in spring. Teams will get highly desperate.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 That's different Yup, guess he will retire now.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Yup, guess he will retire now. Now you're being ridiculous.

Marew Verified Member Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 I think it’s win win. If we get him, we have him. If we don’t have him, Roger’s saves 580m. Both outcomes will make me just as happy.
