If they had scored more runs I guess maybe they use Green rather than Romano to close out to keep his pitch count lower and guarantee his availability for tomorrow…I guess?

He hasn’t really looked sharp on D this season. I see the defensive metrics, he seems to be top 5-10 for 3B depending on what you look at.

 

Overall he’s a good player, I just don’t really see him as “elite” on D compared to someone like Arenado.

He's not what he used to be, but he's still excellent, still makes the plays he's supposed to make. The most difficult routine plays in baseball are at third base.

Fair enough. Him being our position player WAR leader the way he has played too often says a lot. I’m not expert in D stats but they would have to be better than slightly above avg I would think to get him to that WAR with his bat only 10% better than LA.

He's still amazing, maybe a handful better. He's just scuffling and bringing it to the field, recently.

This didn't look good the first half against Glasnow. Would be a huge win if we hang on.

Chapman was a much more impressive defender before coming to Toronto. Now he's very good, but not "elite" anymore.

 

Like, his UZR is #4 in the league which is great but it's a full win worse than his prime.

CHappy isn’t having his usual year defensively, he’s merely well above average rather than elite.

 

He’s just like Scott Rolen though, so steady the stuff he dies doesn’t seem like it’s amazing, but it really is. No he’s not Arenado, Arenado is on his own level entirely
