BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 So glad I cancelled the idea of heading to Toronto for this series. Outscored 26-7 so far at home in a huge series. They need tomorrow night badly. It’s as close to a must win as it gets. It won’t get any easier after that schedule wise given how we have played the AL East.

Zero chance they win tomorrow. Gausman is too easy to prepare for with only 2 pitches. Rangers will be f***ing prepared as hell, all watching video as we speak, probably have been watching video of Gaussman for the last month in preparation for this. Got the driveline, got the pitching machines set to splitter, fastball. They got a f***ING team of people who care watching every Gaussman start in real life. They got a team of 4 full timers and 10 interns watching all Gaussman video looking for tells. And you know why? They care. The f***ing texas rangers care. I don't believe Atkins and Shapiro give a s***. Corporate pieces of crap with no connection to the city or the team. Schneider might care. He probably does but will take the fall for this s*** (along perhaps with Atkinds). f***ing Gausman. Game over before it begins because Semien and Seager and the rest will be prepared as f***ing hell to tell the difference between fastball and splitter. f*** THIS TEAM. f*** SHAPIRO!

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 This is when we need our Ace to pick us up and throw a gem. Problem is, 8 innings 2 runs might not be enough. I have 0 faith in the offense to put anything together

Would have gone home depressed.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 You definitely dodged a bullet. Would have gone home depressed. Considering hotels downtown are starting at about $600 a night plus flights plus plus yep. Value isn’t there. Can’t expect to win every game but team is so dam listless. Being down 4-0 feels like 14-0.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Terrible game. Sometimes you just need to cleanse your palate. Here you go:
CdnSteeler Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Other than Babe, has any hitter on the Jays pulled anything so far tonight? At least not in public. ;-)
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I want the team to win tomorrow just so I can see if Vladdy comes out with his dumb ass ice bath after the game. Having the dip-s*** come out and splash someone would be the ultimate "read-the-f***ing-room!" moment for him. I honestly think some of the players really don't like each other after watching their body-language during some of these losses (and some of the wins tbh).

5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 And Shapiro should have fired Atkins too. Everyone from Atkins down should be gone this offseason with the clock starting on Shapiro. 8 years and 0 playoff wins... Honestly, if we miss the playoffs, I'd have to imagine Shapiro gets the axe. The guy's been a massive bust.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 At least not in public. ;-) Where's Reese when you need him lol
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Kirk's game calling is almost as bad as his fitness level. So many red flags up and down this lineup. Least likeable Jays team in many years. Kirk was my favorite player going into this year, but yikes, the regression has been real.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 If anyone is still riding the Ross Atkins train, you need to get your heads examined. What, you mean you don't like seeing Horrowitz, Ernie Clement and Espinal starting games in the heat of a playoff race?!?!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 What, you mean you don't like seeing Horrowitz, Ernie Clement and Espinal starting games in the heat of a playoff race?!?! Those guys are all playing well lol not sure what your point is
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 You mean the guy that Shapiro ran off? I'm surprised this fact isn't talked about more by the Toronto media and Blue Jays fans in general. One of those blunders you would think people would still be talking about 20-30 years down the road
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Those guys are all playing well lol not sure what your point is Small sample size. They're not the guys we should be leaning on with the season on the line. But because of the horrible roster configuration, they're what we're stuck with.

But because of the horrible roster configuration, they're what we're stuck with. Yeah you know who we SHOULD be leaning on? Vlad. Springer. Bo. Whit. Kirk. Varsho. They’ve all been pretty silent.
DonJays Verified Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Never should have fired just Montoyo...needed to get rid of all of the coaches and started with just Schneider this year If they keep getting boo'd i think they finally make that shift. They have to Everyone is trending down offensively and triple at home...so what gives. Fire the s*** f***ing hitting coach at a minimum Fire the hitting coach? Seriously? Laughable bro. He is number 30 on the list of people that need to be fired. Newsflash, he has almost no impact on the f***ing game

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 f*** this team man, I don’t even care if they get swept tomorrow. f***em. I’ll enjoy watching the playoffs either way. Just end the dream now, this team is going nowhere
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 What, you mean you don't like seeing Horrowitz, Ernie Clement and Espinal starting games in the heat of a playoff race?!?! Maybe you somehow missed the fact that Belt and Chapman are on the injured list right now and Bo is being eased back into action after multiple leg related injuries.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Heads need to f***ing roll.

I’ve thought for awhile now this was the case. Frankly I don’t think guys like Merrifield, Belt, Varsho etc like Vlad and his “centre of attention” antics.

Heck even a s*** box near the airport goes for $200 a night. I don't know how some people travel here or in Canada for that matter. Glad you decided not to come down. Tickets (which have more than tripled since Shapiro took over) + $18 beers ain't worth it IMO. Better off saving your money and going down to the US for a weekend to see a DS or CS matchup. Planning to fly down to ATL one weekend if I could redeem points for my flights and if hotels aren't crazy expensive.

Of interest, attendance is up to over 37K per game this year (3rd highest in the AL). Highest since 2016/2017 and higher than it was in 2015. 3rd highest average in the last 28 years. I suspect Rogers is thrilled with the job Shapiro has done. While I agree the cost to attend a game has increased, it's still cheap compared to Leafs/Raps. Most MLB teams are targeting a different audience these days and it appears to be working just fine.

Yeah attendance numbers have been really good this season. Mostly earlier on because the Leafs/Raps were out of the Playoffs, the hype surrounding the new renos, and since it was summer. A lot of casuals or people I know who never went to a Jays game before went to a couple this summer. Sure Rogers isn't complaining but if this team doesn't produce a winner, attendance numbers will take a hit. I think the low attendance this series is a factor of many things: everyone back at school, people tapped out from the summer, and less excitement around this team/group given their struggles. Leafs and the Raptors are crazy expensive and awful. Mostly corporate owns a lot of those seats.
