Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Buck going off on the analytic nerds and i agree with him loll Buck does this almost everyday. In general, the game has passed him by. I think there is some validity to starting pitchers "learning" to pitch through challenges - but that's also not a reasons to let you starter go 7 innings every night, regardless of the results. Just because it worked for pitchers like Greinke and Maddux doesn't mean it will work for everyone.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 This umpire is f***ing terrible.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 omg I thought he was a dead duck. Nice slide Vladdy.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 What a slide at home from Vlad!
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 omg I thought he was a dead duck. Nice slide Vladdy. He probably was if he didn't pull the inside arm back
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 tricky Vladdy, who would have thought
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 91 pitches in Schneider's mind might as well be 131, so I can't imagine Gausman comes out for the 8th, but they probably should let him given how last night's pen was used. Of course if the Jays can add some runs here then they can go to the lower leverage arms in the final 2 innings.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 What a game for George.
BlueJays Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Maybe that extra run will push Gausman for 1 more inning. But who I am kidding?
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Springerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 2222222222 home runs today
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 That was an excellent AB by George. Great day for him
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Maybe that extra run will push Gausman for 1 more inning. But who I am kidding? Nobody warming in the pen
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Springer of old locked in the last 30 games or so. We need him.
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Get hot geoooorge:cool:
BlueJays Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Wow. I thought he would be safe.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 Nice play by the Royals. Richie to Potsie.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 What a start for Gausman. Much needed to rest the pen.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 What a start for Gausman. Much needed to rest the pen. 8 IP 2 Hits 1BB 10K. Stud start when we needed it.
BlueJays Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 0-4 for Babe. He will most likely be benched tomorrow.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Any chances for Gausman to get Cy Young?
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Author Posted September 9, 2023 Bring Gausman back out for the 9th.
Nursehoneybadger Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Any chances for Gausman to get Cy Young? GARRET COLE has a couple bad starts and Gausman can win.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I was hoping Francis to pitch today and save Hicks.

Just because it worked for pitchers like Greinke and Maddux doesn't mean it will work for everyone. Making decisions regardless of results is what analytics is about now. The front office decides on reliever usage before the game begins and sticks to the script. It doesn't make any sort of adjustment based on real time performance on the field.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Huge win. Gonna be tough tomorrow. But a sweep is very important tomorrow. Schedule gets tough after that. And the Texas Ranger series is basically a playoff series.
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Verlander won it last year with a 1.75 ERA. Gausman is almost double that. He leads AL in FIP and fWAR among the pitchers. I'm not sure if Cy Young voters will use those as an indication, but I hope Gausman gets his first Cy Young.
