Biggio needs to stay next year but punt Espinal.

 

Biggio sucks for 3 years running: "Bring him back!"

Springer has some really poor ABs sometimes. Super frustrating to watch sometimes. Just swinging out his shoes at pitches he can't do anything with if he makes contact.

I think we can do alot better than Espinal and Biggio, they had their chance - time to move on. Sign someone to fill those roles and / or start bringing up your younger players.

There is a lot of truth to this. Easy to say "CUT ESPI - WHY THE f*** IS HE ON THIS TEAM" over and over, but he's coming off a couple of 2 WAR seasons where he was a league average (and 15% above league average) hitter. FO made the right call bringing in enough guys to push him to the bench, with him ideally filling in v. LHP. He ought to have been a perfect utility guy in that role. Hits lefties and can play all 3 key infield positions, including SS.

 

But f*** me - it hasn't worked out this year. He's been a mess. I think he'll have to earn his spot moving forward, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we're singing his praises as a quality utility player in 2024.

Always felt gambling should be treated the same as smoking. It shouldn't be illegal but it shouldn't be marketed or recommended or celebrated in anyway. I have seen people destroy their lives gambling and these gambling websites and phone apps make ruining your life that much easier.

How so? Biggio cannot play anywhere in the outfield, he's limited to 2nd and 1st and he's not great at either - especially 2nd he's really slow at turning 2 and he has no range. Time to move on from both tbh

Biggio is steady defensively. He's athletic runs well, has a good eye. The only place he shouldn't play is 3B because of his arm strength but he's more than fine at Second Base. He makes all the plays. And he can play a corner OF fine. He made one bad play in Cincinnati and the board imploded on him. He's a quality extra player. With that being said do I feel he should be playing over O-Mart and Barger no. But he should be playing over Espinal and McCoy who are currently here.

Newsflash: Isn't the guy who "brings substantially more to the Baseball diamond" in your opinion.

 

It's Espinal and it isn't even close. In fact, the difference between Espinal's WAR and Biggio's is greater than the difference between Biggio's and a replacement level player.

I just can't understand why Schneider can come up, have such a simple approach, have ridiculous success from it, and no one looks at that and decides, "Hey, maybe I should try that too?"

Makes it even more confusing that both guys have been ELITE hitters previously in their careers. It just doesn’t make any sense

He's basically become an innings eater for them this year. He lost all his talent but since he has a huge contract they just employee him to eat innings while they rebuild.

Espinal is not the player he was when he accumulated that WAR. You have to stop with that s***. That Espinal doesn't exist anymore.

 

His skillset completely fell off a cliff.
