THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Just curious, who would you prefer in that situation? Kikuchi but if you needed to use a BP guy, anyone else.
mellowgold Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 If you're gonna pull Kooch there, why not to to Swanson? Chances are that will end up being one of the biggest spots of the game and we still have Hicks and Romano to close it out late.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Grayson likely going to complete 6 innings. Orioles will have their elite BP arms lined up for the rest of the game.

Kordesi Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Come on guys it’s a tied game! Let’s go Blue Jays!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 This was a terrible decision even without the benefit of hindsight. FFS Schneider, and now you mess with Kikuchi's confidence and make him think he needs to be perfect to stay in. This is the guy that is literally fueled by confidence and vibes. Very good post.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Just curious, who would you prefer in that situation? If this was a WC game, I would have went with one of the high leverage relievers. Need to give yourself the best chance to get out of that jam.

hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 lol Grayson nearing 100 pitches....Kikuchi is probably destroying the dugout right now
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Jansen just watching mistakes lmao
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Grayson will likely finish under 100 pitches and complete 6 innings. Now bullpen management for the Orioles will be easy. Asking your BP to start in the middle of the 5th inning is always asking for trouble. Kooch has been great this season, let him get out of that inning especially when he's only at 81 pitches.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 I'd rather not see Felix tonight... Damnit
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Grayson likely going to complete 6 innings. Orioles will have their elite BP arms lined up for the rest of the game. So do the Jays?
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 If richards is our swing in and miss middle innings guy why wasn’t he in over Garcia Lol
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Use a high leverage guy in the 5th inning? Assuming you're referring to Hicks? I really don't have an answer. But yeah if you're going to play a BP game, go to your best guys if the situation calls for it, even if it's in the 5th or 6th or 7th inning. Ideally I wouldn't have pulled my starter given he was only at 81 pitches, has been dominant to this point and you were still winning 3-2. Kooch was working his way out of this and that BB wasn't a bad walk at all in that situation.
DonJays Verified Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 lol Grayson nearing 100 pitches....Kikuchi is probably destroying the dugout right now Grayson was getting stronger and Kikuchi seemed rattled. Bunch of f***ing babies in here. Agreed Jimmy was a strange choice. Richards would have been my choice
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Come on guys it’s a tied game! Let’s go Blue Jays! LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP* LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP* LETS GO BLUE JAYS *CLAP, CLAP* *CLAP, CLAP, CLAP*
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Richards looking good! He needs to be our Andrew Miller in the Postseason!

Garcia gives up hits but he can work around them so you only give him clean innings.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Lol. Love Bubbles. Clearly he called for that replay and was 100% sure.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 If richards is our swing in and miss middle innings guy why wasn’t he in over Garcia Lol Yeah I would try Richards more in that role, as a guy to put out the fires in the 5th, 6th or 7th innings when need be. See how he does in that role.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Anyways, going to go outside on my patio, smoke a cigar and drink an Innis & Gunn. I have a TV outside as well, so will tune in haha. Great joining everyone during the GDT! This was a lot of fun! Now lets score runs and win this game!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 All this revisionist s*** is dumn, the move was to let Kooch get out of it. Yet it's clear our FO analytics pulls the strings, imo.
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 I kind of get pulling Kikuchi but why go to your 6th or 7th best reliever? It's like the AJ Cole decision again
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Yeah I would try Richards more in that role, as a guy to put out the fires in the 5th, 6th or 7th innings when need be. See how he does in that role. Him, Mayza and genesis all seem effective options with runners on. Hicks is a bit too wild to be comfortable in that position.
