o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I'd rather re sign Merrifield than keep DeYoung, Biggio, Espinal and maybe even Chapman would Reed Johnson type of player be a good comparison?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 this team really needed a game like this---
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2023 Author Posted August 13, 2023 Bordering on a blowout
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 would Reed Johnson type of player be a good comparison? Merrifield is a much better player, a 3 time all-star so no that's not a good comp, a Zobrist
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I'd rather re sign Merrifield than keep DeYoung, Biggio, Espinal and maybe even Chapman me too but it will be an overpay for sure so a little risky considering his age, he plays like a 20 year old though
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Merrifield is a much better player, a 3 time all-star so no that's not a good comp, a Zobrist He is an All star 3 times in part because he played in KC. Espy and Kirk are also former all stars. Zobrist had a 42 WAR career including an 8+ WAR season. Whit has been great but he has been super hot which gives us all a lot of recency bias.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Ryu at 86 pitches. He should throw another inning. But you know John Schneider is licking his lips at the idea of using 4 relievers today.

Whit has been great but he has been super hot which gives us all a lot of recency bias. 42 war over 18 seasons, Merrifield is a late bloomer only 8 seasons actually the opposite of recency bias, Merrifield struggled just before the Jays picked him up and they continued to struggle when the Jays were messing with his playing time and position. His best days were a few years ago but he's looking like his old self againn. The talent is for real
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Ofcourse he f***ing pulls Ryu at 86 pitches. They are up 8-2 Jesus f***ing Christ.

Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Bluejaysloser2023/anus anus is awfully quite today. Must be going into overload that he can’t blame a team loss on the #9 hitter Varsho.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Ryu seems happy about it He's probably just happy to be on the mound again to be honest. Doesn't make it a good decision.
keggy Verified Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 I normally hate Schneider pulling starters early, but with Ryu's soft stuff it's probably better not to give the hitters a third look.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 They have monday and thursday off. Sounds like even more reason to push the Starter further.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 nice clean inning.... more add on runs please!

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 Sounds like even more reason to push the Starter further. kakuchi gets yanked after 2 times through the order no matter how well he's pitching. If you never let a pitcher get through the order 3 times, they will never learn to get through the order 3 times

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2023 Posted August 13, 2023 This would have been a good spot to get Davis Scheneider an at-bat

If you never let a pitcher get through the order 3 times, they will never learn to get through the order 3 times It’s really frustrating. And everyone using the off days as an excuse is just pitiful. All it takes is your starter to be knocked out of the game early Tuesday to have a taxed pen again. Let your Starters eat their innings. Ryu was grooving and perfect time to give him an extended outing.
