John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Iasognia is terrible at his job. That certainly explains things, didn’t realize he was the twat behind the plate tonight
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Why no Alvarez? He get hurt? Yeah some sort of discomfort felt after his first PA, he was pinch hit for in what would have been his second time up
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Great series minus obvious bum Manoah
Kordesi Verified Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Great game! What a come back in this series. Onwards and upwards. Good night guys
el duque Verified Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 its a win, 3 stars 3) Bell, 2) Berrios, 1) Kirk
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 After Manoah s*** the bed in game 1, this team takes three in a row from the Stros. Guys, this Blue Jay team is tough to play against. Let's get them Twinkies!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Yeah some sort of discomfort felt after his first PA, he was pinch hit for in what would have been his second time up We lost our big lefty too so it evens out
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Huge to win 3 straight after losing the opener so badly
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Big wins. Gotta keep it rolling against the Twins.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Nice taking 3 of 4 from the Astros. Gausman, Bassitt and Berrios all solid! Hope the Jays could take 2 of 3 against the Twins.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Oh we will Seeing the Twins 2 best pitchers but gotta be feeling good right now.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Seeing the Twins 2 best pitchers but gotta be feeling good right now. And the Jays rolling out Kikuchi and the bullpen/Francis for two of the three games.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 And the Jays rolling out Kikuchi and the bullpen/Francis for two of the three games. Yeah, but on the plus side, the twins suck.

We just have to make it into the playoffs if we can throw those three out there. Hopefully we stay healthy and then can add Ryu and Green. Ryu as our 4th starter? Green as our set-up man? That's a good frickin' lineup.
tossingthiscoin Verified Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 We won 3 of the 4 games against the Astros and it's great. However, we also found out that Springer has been very clutchless this season. Even today, he missed two opportunities where he could've driven in at least one run each, but instead, he missed both of them. Springer's risp stat shows that he's not performing well in certain situations.

Game 4 of a playoff would probably be a Kikuchi/Ryu tandem of some sort assuming Ryu comes back solid. Ryu starts with Kikuchi for the 3rd time through? Or vice versa?

Jays still need to fill those last two rotation spots with Kikuchi + someone else for the remainder of the season. Gausman, Bassitt and Berrios have all had a healthy track record, but if even one of them miss time on the IL, things start to become a dumpster fire.

Bring in Kikuchi and his wild high heat stuff to mess with the hitters timing after they watch Ryu's off-speed stuff a couple times through the order. Then hopefully follow up with Green/Swanson/Richards/Romano? Let's just say I wouldn't want our hitters facing that problem.

Ideally you’d have Ryu getting through the lineup twice so probably through 4+ innings. If Kikuchi could then go even 2+, you’re only needing to use your best setup guy and then Romano for 8 and 9, maybe an extra arm to get the last out of the 7th. Would depend on matchups at that point I guess.
Jays333 Verified Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Nice series win puts us half a game out of the wildcard, 1 game back of the Yanks and 3 back of the O's. Shoutout to Kirk for some timely hits this series. Shoutout to Kirk for also not being able to make it home from second base on what should be an easy run scored for an mlb player. Remember this is the guy we kept over Moreno haha. Time will tell obviously but I still think it was a s*** decision.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Uh...yah... That's why I said "Hopefully we stay healthy". Ryu says he is targeting a return right after the All Star break. That’s not confirmed of course by the Jays, but…let’s say it’s true. The jays wouldn’t even need their 5th starter right away anyways since they have an off day right after the 3 game series with Arizona. They could roll 1-4 twice before needing their #5 on the 23rd of July in Seattle.

You don’t even know that he was wanted in the trade so thinking the Jays simply preferred to trade Moreno instead of Kirk for the package they got is just mental gymnastics
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
