I watched his interview before season started, or maybe shortly after, and he said he finally realize how good of a (hitter) he was, it sounded like that confidence helped.

Vlad is a kid and I feel, maybe because of the pedigree, the FO/coaching lets him do what he wants in the offseason and during season barring the times he comes to them for help.

'Cause he is 100% guessing at pitches, bat speed doesn't exist anymore on inside pitches that he absolutely demolished in 2021 (most of the league stayed away last year, and now they can pepper him in this year without anything happening), and he keeps pressing despite a full year worth of evidence that he shouldn't do that.

 

Or he is hurt.

 

Either way, someone needs to go on an absolute tear with Bo to carry this team until everyone gets going or something.

Its definitely possible he’s playing hurt. I was saying before I think our front office has a bad track record of letting guys play through injuries even though it would probably be better to let them get healthy. Let Kirk and Belt handle 1B/DH for a week
