Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 20, 2023 Author Posted May 20, 2023 3-40...has there ever been a stretch that bad w/RISP
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 This is f***ing pathetic Do all the stat nerds still think hitting with RISP is just a meaningless random thing and RBIs are meaningless?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 You just knew they would manage to screw that up somehow… just a really rough stretch right now. All that execution on the little things earlier in the season has just gone away completely
Steeljays Verified Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Geez, if we need a lefty bat in there let's give Lukes a start
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 This is f***ing pathetic Do all the stat nerds still think hitting with RISP is just a meaningless random thing and RBIs are meaningless? It is generally just random luck outside of a few really good guys

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 This is f***ing pathetic Do all the stat nerds still think hitting with RISP is just a meaningless random thing and RBIs are meaningless? Hardly. What I can tell you though is I’d rather them struggle with RISP that struggle to get runners there to begin with. Only getting 3-5 runners eben in scoring position a game is a far bigger problem to solve.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 This is f***ing pathetic Do all the stat nerds still think hitting with RISP is just a meaningless random thing and RBIs are meaningless? No they think batting average is meaningless. Because they're f***ing idiots.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 It is generally just random luck outside of a few really good guys Yeah, you'd think. I truly believe that hitting with RISP is a skill / mindset.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 This is f***ing pathetic Do all the stat nerds still think hitting with RISP is just a meaningless random thing and RBIs are meaningless? Generally luck but when a team or player is struggling there can be more pressure But professionals are supposed to handle the pressure without issue, compared to us amateurs
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Geez, if we need a lefty bat in there let's give Lukes a start Gotta wonder what Lukes thinks the Jays really think of him when he still can’t get a start with all these guys hitting like trash.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Yeah, you'd think. I truly believe that hitting with RISP is a skill / mindset. You’re free to believe it, whether it’s true or not.

Wow great knucklehead post. Why in the world you felt the need to take a shot at "stat nerds" is beyond me. All of us are obviously frustrated with the team's inability to deliver with RISP so no need to take potshots.

Everybody's mindset is different with RISP and the good hitters know how to keep it simple and not get ahead of themselves.

Holy f*** stat nerds is a pot shot, but you get to use the term "knucklehead" without realizing that it may be offensive? Personally idgaf but check yourself.

Everybody's mindset is different with RISP and the good hitters know how to keep it simple and not get ahead of themselves. Sure, but those are already good hitters. They don’t hit any better with RISP (generally) than they do without except for the average gain seen by nearly every hitter. Even the average mlb hitter hits better with RISP than they do without. Hitting with RISP is also a massive series of tiny sample sizes with huge variances on the outcomes based on a shitload of variables.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 When I used to play house league baseball and was at-bat with RISP, I couldn't handle the pressure. I think I had 12 RBI in my first season.

Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
