Ive neever seen this "sweeper" designation on a pitch until yesterday when Tiedemann was throwing his slider, now Thornton's is also coming up as a sweeper.

It's just MLB trying out a more detailed classification I guess

Barger has good hair too. His lettuce flows a lot more naturally than Bo's who looks a little bit too manufactured.

That and his physique. I am telling you, Pat Tabler is sooo regretting retiring early.

He'd cream his pants if he was in the booth.

They also said Adrián Hernández was throwing a screwball yesterday.

Whether it's a changeup or a screwball he got 5 whiffs on it out of the 7 swings the Pirates took.

isn't that specific pitch's motion particularly hard on the arm?

Yes we used to have a lefty in the system who threw one. His arm got really screwed up. I think his arm was backwards when his career came to a close.

I've always heard his pitch called a changeup. So I doubt he is doing a screwball arm action to throw it.

It's his changeup...

Ranked Toronto Blue Jays #26 prospect in-season in 2022

BA Grade: 45/High

May Update: Hernandez is a 5-foot-9 reliever who rose three levels in 2021 to reach Double-A as a 21-year-old, striking out 108 batters in 62.1 innings. He pitches around 90-92 mph and touches 95, with a plus changeup that's his bread-and-butter pitch.
