Josh Towers was my favourite pitcher when I was a kid. I know he sucked in 2006 and 2007 but in 2003 and 2005 he was solid with the Jays. I was kinda of like him as a pitcher - when I played house league, never threw gas and was never overpowering but always located and focused on control so as a pitcher tried to copy him in that respect.

After Halladay went down in 2005, Towers helped anchor the Jays rotation the rest of the way: 13-12, 3.71 ERA, 3.94 FIP, 3.6 WAR.

Heck in 2007, he had the guts to beam A-Rod. Definitely gotta give him props for that!

Also, big thanks to Spanky for his jersey a couple of years ago!

Josh Towers was a pitcher a lot of kids could relate to. He didn’t look like a big leaguer he looked like us lol. He actually had a couple of quality years. I can definitely understand why he was your favourite.

Yes but then people were acting like they never wanted to pay him, so I pulled it up

As I recall the only one that wanted to pay Bautista $150M was saskjaysfan

The crazy amount, yeah. But like 4 posters said they would’ve, or Jays would’ve offered 3 years or year-to-year for 3/60 or something, and so I was saying it was going to be more. Nobody was going to object to 4/100 or 5/100. I would’ve prob been down for 4/100 but can’t remember. As I said, with some of the other guys having success in their late 30’s, you would’ve thought maybe 2 really good seasons at worst

I may be old school, but single numbers only go with position players, not pitchers. Mcdonald was one of the best/most reliable defensive players we ever had.

I liked John McDonald as a super utility guy when he was here. Fan favourite and easy player to like and root for. His glove was amazing.

I love single digit numbers in general. So pure.

when numbers were first issued, the single numbers were based on the batting order. A pitcher would not wear 6 or 7, that would be a hitter. Babe Ruth wore 3, and batted 3rd, Gehrig wore 4 and batted 4th.

Just look at that kid. Could show me that first pic a dozen times and i wouldn't put it together with Delgado

It's the stash.

Delgado’s Jay number wasn’t retired? Whose is?

Or he switched maybe?

He wore 3 different numbers with the Jays

Started with #6 in 1993-1995, wore #21 in 1996 then gave it up to Clemens when he was signed, and took the #25 from 1997-2004.

Little known thing, any player's Baseball reference page has all the #'s they ever wore while in MLB at the top of the screen in little circles.

When Felipe Crespo and Delgado both made the team, they swapped numbers (6/21) after spring training for the beginning of the season.

He looks more like Manny Lee than Carlos Delgado.

Ah Felipe Crespo... I remember him for all of 10 minutes. It's probably not a good sign that when you look a guy up his primary position is listed as "pinch hitter"

Yeah he was supposed to be a good hitter but had a bad car accident if I remember correctly. He was supposed to be a 2b.

Ah, Sil Campusano

We all had such big hopes for that guy

Bell was to become a DH, Moseby the new leadoff hitting left fielder, Campusano in CF. Jimy "One M" ideas. He could really play CF. Just couldn't hit worth a lick.

You're thick man, Bautista priced himself out of a contract and that's what we were discussing, and you tried to dunk on us, because one person said they'd give JB the asking price? lol

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure that's how 99% of the world works right now.
