For the record, I am just yanking your leg

Oh I know we’re all good.

I can hook you up with a seat on the B ark...

I don’t even think I deserve a seat on the ark. I just know it’s getting close to that time.

You do realize in seriousness it was racist lol. The link between Hispanics and a high rate of domestic violence is a well known stereotype (backed by available data, as most stereotypes are but still). Not that I personally care of course but treat everyone the same.

Now that's rich coming from connorpee, lmao. ^^^^

Again, personally I could care less but it’s every bit as racist as my NBA comment

Good to see that you now understand the racism of your NBA comment. You are on the path to wokeness.

I see how it can be perceived as racist, there’s a difference

Well no - obviously I wouldn't either. I'm not suggesting that. I'm just saying Arb #'s shouldn't be primarily based on counting stats without any valued added for defense.

I think it’s just that counting stats are easy to quantify, others are not. There’s any number of different defensive metrics, all calculated differently based on different data. Hell, there’s probably a defensive metric out there somewhere that has Bo as being average or better based on some weird data set that isn’t public

Do they at least use GG voting or some type of award system? Seems lazy. I agree with Brownie that it's stupid, and I'm no fan of defensive metrics.

Yes, awards are taken into account

Gage was given his outright release. Bit surprising and harsh. Must have done something.

Blue Jays place LHP Matt Gage on unconditional release waivers

Blue Jays released LHP Matthew Gage.

Gage was designated for assignment last week by the Blue Jays to make room for newly-signed reliever Chad Green. The 29-year-old southpaw will head to free agency in search of a new opportunity after going unclaimed on waivers. He posted a solid 1.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 12/6 K/BB ratio over 13 innings (11 appearances) last year for Toronto.

Does this mean that Gage cleared waivers and instead of keeping him in AAA, we just cut him loose? If so, probably just being a nice organization and letting him go to find another opportunity?

If anyone had any interest, he could have been picked on waivers. We could also have outrighted him ourselves but left him open if anyone had any interest. But no.

There's got to be something going down here where they simply do not want him anymore, because he clearly has some value as a lefty out of the pen, so letting him go for nothing (and nobody claiming him on waivers) seems weird.

Probably a personal-level thing

Maybe he reacted poorly to being DFAd and him and his agent soured the relationship

Just speculation of course

If he was a righty I'd maybe understand it, but a lefty has more value. The only other possibility is he's off to Japan or something like that. But otherwise there's something more to the picture here.

His track record is getting picked up by teams and released. The Jays were the only team to give him a shot in the show so far. Could be a soured relationship or them letting him find work elsewhere. Either way, I thought he was pretty good last year.

I guess I'll be in the minority and say I don't like it. I'll admit though it is different and coming from a team that has whipped through about a thousand different designs since the World Series years, they are running out of ideas to put something new on the market.

I'm actually with you on the "don't like it" side. The patch looks like someone applied it with the backside facing out.

Me too. It seems either faded out or incomplete.

So happy that Shapiro got tired of the clowning around and is doing something about it.

Yes, exactly that.
