What would the pivot even be if Atkins misses on Soto and Ohtani? Snell or Glasnow? Fans won't be happy with Lourdes Gurriel and a 140M deal for Matt Chapman.

Bellinger maybe. They made a big play for him last offseason but fell short

Lol the Yankees need a serious infusion of talent and they go out and acquire a slap hitting corner outfielder. Good jobs guys.

I totally forgot about this. LOL

Soto to the Yankees soon according to Morosi....

I think Cashman is kind of in that where it’s life-and-death. He’ll use up his bullets.

and honestly if it's just King off the mlb club it's not that much to give up, he could easily regress back to being a reliever

Ian Happ? Or a multi player trade with the White Sox.

Did anyone report Jose Igleasis signing with mets to a minors deal to backup Lindor. I love watching that guy flick his wrist and make sick plays.

You have weird fetishes

King+ is a coup for the Padres but only if King stays healthy. That's a big question mark and that is baked into his trade value.

It’s 2 years man. If they’re raising the white flag to half-staff, that wouldn’t be the headliner.

They are trying to win now still and Michael King might be an SP2 or SP3.

Might be exactly what they want. They could trade Soto and still make the playoffs, conceivably.

It's not necessarily a rebuild style trade where they just want the 3 best prospects

Decent chance Thorpe is in their rotation for a good part of the year too. Two rotation spots filled for a total of like 3M is exactly what they needed

Yeah, I mean it’s the cliche “one major league ready guy” and prospects. I think there’s too much uncertainty with the owner dying, and it makes sense to have the headliner have 4+ years of control.

Yanks got pillaged in the R5 draft, losing 3 upper minors RP prospects. They all showed up on deep top prospect lists; Matt Sauer was 25 on MLB.com's NYY top 30 and Caron Coleman was on the Fangraphs NYY prospect list in March.

Yanks OF defense is going to challenge for the worst in the league.

If getting Soto was the plan not sure why they felt the need to get Verdugo.

I guess they can bring in a defensive whiz to be the 4th OF and the first time Stanton gets hurt (won't take long) they can cycle Soto/Judge through the DH spot and play the 4th OF in center.

I guess the plan for 2024 is force Judge to play CF so he gets hurt as soon as possible?

I could still see Verdugo as part of the Soto trade, though. He has little value but helps SDP.

Soto + Grisham for Verdugo + King + Thorpe ++

Yeah an OF of Soto-Judge-Verdugo from left to right is a bad setup. They would be better off doing what was mentioned above, which is flipping Verdugo to the Padres and getting Grisham back, which would be an offensive downgrade, but much better defensive alignment.

That Bautista injury hurts. O's using what little FA money they have on a replacement.

Yeah when I saw the Kimbrel-Os news I was pretty happy. $13M is a lot for them and they are using it on a guy who is volatile and liable to s*** the bed.

Trading for one year of Soto is dumb man. We're in no position to do that. I hope the Yankees get him.

Yankees aren’t getting anybody for one year. He will be cemented there for the next decade punishing the division.
