Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Author Posted October 16, 2022 You're such an apologist when it comes to this team. Blue Jays lost their series against the Mariners because they played awful baseball and had a manager who was overthinking his bullpen with an 8-1 lead. Plain and simple. They shouldn't get a Participation ribbon! I never asked you to make any conclusions regarding the Jays based on the Game 2 loss. Obviously some of the weaknesses of this team were exploited in that game, weaknesses myself and MOST other posters on here pointed out this team had. Lets hope the front office addresses those weaknesses better this offseason or else 2023 will be like 2022 or 2021 all over again. Ftfy
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Why did the Dodgers lose? They didn't execute? Why did the Braves lose? They didn't execute? Why did the Mets lose? They didn't execute? It's just baseball, man, there is relative parity between post season teams and it basically comes down to liners hit right at an OF or into the gap, a fly ball or a bloop, a groundball through the hole, missed call by the umpire, etc. And I'm not going to make any conclusions regarding the Jays based on the game 2 loss, which is ONE f***ing game. The season is 162 games long for a reason. Over that time, the luck balances out. But in a single game or a short 5/7 game series, luck can absolutely be the deciding factor. I am not saying the Jays lost because of bad luck. But its was A factor. If people try to claim luck is not a factor in baseball, I don’t really know what to say.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Author Posted October 17, 2022 Looks like it missed him from the front angle It did, but side angle looks like it changed trajectory, before it hit the dirt. Should never be over called there. Good game.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Did you guys see the Gimenez pickoff call at 1st base? Umpire ruled him safe because Rizzo put his whole leg down in front of the bag. I'm very curious about this as you see 3rd basemen do this on steal attempts and throws from the OF from time to time and I've never see an umpire rule the player safe because he was blocking 3rd. Is there actual a rule that prevents a fielder from blocking the base? If so - I think that's great and that's how it should be. Is it for all bases? Anyone know?

Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 The Naylor thing is revenge for when the Yankees fans pelted the guardian players with beer cans earlier this year. Everyone forgets that now?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Tomorrow night should be a great game. Hoping Cleveland can pull off an upset!
