gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Cardinal rule in baseball, never put the winning run on base. That's what Chuckles would say in the post game after the loss
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Author Posted August 25, 2022 Such an important win. Seattle loses, Baltimore loses, Tbay losing in extras right now....
harvey16 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Somebody's spicy! This is a baseball axiom as old as the World Series, it worked out, but you never put the winning run on base! A shot down the line or gapper and game is over. We got lucky there!
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 That's what Chuckles would say in the post game after the loss Like the time he said "You can't use closer in non-close situations on the road" -.-
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Cardinal rule in baseball, never put the winning run on base. Cardinal rule - don't let their best hitter Devers beat us.

It was the right move with 2 out and their most dangerous hitter coming up, they want to win the game man.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Montoya would probably choose to pitch to Devers So true Montoyo would have pitched to Devers lol

WryNGinger Verified Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 The way we beat the Sox feels like the way the Ray's beat us... 😅 Sorry but suck it Sox fans
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Possibly. Hader has been absolute trash Yup. I may have to rethink my goal to see Kooch remade as the Japanese Josh Hader. Bass with the swing and miss last night was sooooooo good to see in that situation. He had some electric stuff. Love how he shifted to back to back FBs at 97 to start Dalbec off. Then went to the slider. He was helpless. Nasty!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 (edited) Anthony Bass: best reliever moved at the deadline? As of the deadline to date it's been David Robertson, it hasn't been close. Surprisingly David Phelps has been our best reliever since the deadline. Edited August 25, 2022 by Spanky99

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Going back since the beginning of the Yankees series, Blue Jays starting pitching has been very solid. Most arms are pitching deep into games, other than White really. The starting rotation definitely has an impact on the rest of the bullpen day-to-day. Keeps guys fresh and that is definitely helping. Bullpen has been rock solid the past week, though lets see if this continues down the stretch. The Jays got lucky catching the Yankees in a rut and Boston isn't really a dangerous lineup to begin with. I wouldn't get overly excited and think the Blue Jays bullpen is miraculously amazing from this past week, though definitely encouraging to see. Starting rotation pitching well and that definitely has a domino effect.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Possibly. Hader has been absolute trash Hader hasn't been his dominant self this season, even when with the Brewers. 15.50 K/9 and 2.81 xFIP still though. Relievers can be very volatile, even the best of them. Brewers might have been smart trading him.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 As of the deadline to date it's been David Robertson, it hasn't been close. Not that it matters at all, but I'm not so sure. Robertson - 9 2/3 innings 1.86 ERA 3.55 xFIP 11 K/9 3.7 BB/9 Bass - 9 innings 1.00 ERA 3.10 xFIP 9 K/9 3 BB/9
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 You all must apologize to Ross Atkins. He went off the board with Anthony Bass and got perhaps the best RP traded at the deadline and he's under control cheap for 2023. Just galaxy brain moves from Ross.
