The FO really saw this team and thought only minor moves were needed. Lol.

Spending 300M on renovations leaves very little money on baseball players. Newsflash... If the team sucks ass... no one will come out to watch lol

The more games I watch and see other teams bullpens I quickly realize how brutally bad our bullpen is. Every year same song and dance we try to put band aids on holes on a dam. Need a GM who values a solid bullpen and gets coaches that can actually get the most out of them and know what the he'll they are doing. Where are our lefty options in the pen? Where are our decent lefty options in the lineup. They are not existent. Horrible management of the Jay's team and is wasting the talent that we do have on this team with a GM that can't or won't acquire the appropriate complimentary pieces. Such a Joke!

What? Little whit merrifield and his 643 OPS wasn't the offensive help you were expecting? ;)

All of a sudden that easy second half schedule we had, playing the orioles 15 more times is no gimme. Baseball is a strange game though, we could go on to sweep the Guardians next series.

Yeah, I don't really understand why this front office is held in such high regard. You look at a lot of the multi-year signings and they're not that great. Ryu was underwhelming, Grichuk sucked, Kickuchi's a dumpster fire, Berrios deal was a gross overpay, Springer's best years look behind him ETC

It’s because they sound smart. Atkins talks about control and cost control and it sounds smart even though it’s actually dumb. The astros aren’t giving grichuk that contract because no one with any f***ing sense thinks that Randal f***ing grichuk requires cost control.

The upside is that you can still win and be like this. I feel like Cleveland don’t always do the smart things but they are amazing at dev. Maybe with our pitching lab and so on, we could go that way too. We could have an amazing pen next year just with some guys who came through our own system. That’s just a harder road.

The astros and Red Sox got click and bloom of the triumvirate they had going. Maybe we could get Neander. He just signed a big extension, though.

Isn’t Bloom kinda dumb though

Yimi homerun… whatev. But Cimber has been pretty bad for quite a while now and needs to be at the back end of the pen at this point. Bass is being wasted so far IMO.

I agree. Cimber in high leverage situations always makes me cringe. Again tonight, an 85 MPH fastball right down the middle crushed for an RBI. He's lucky that meatball didn't leave the yard.

No, they knew they needed to make a big move including starting pitching and bullpen but were too scared to do so. Too risky to try to win.

I would argue it was more risky to make small moves with nothing impactful and possibly miss the playoffs altogether

Hopefully merryweather can comeback and be something, hes on rehab right now. advanced metrics liked him even though he was getting hit hard early in the season.

The ironic thing is the Orioles aren't even trying to make the Postseason haha.

Jays will come out tomorrow strong and avoid the sweep!

I know the bullpen has taken a lot of heat. The FO added Pop and Bass which were solid adds at the deadline, though this team will struggle to close out close games to teams like the Astros, Yankees, Mariners, Twins, Rays in a Postseason series. It's going to be an edge of your seat thrill ride every game. Garcia has been solid and has held his own this season, so I'll give him a mulligan on tonight.

Berrios on the road is doo doo

If the Jays are to be World Series contenders like some posters think they are, Berrios needs to pitch like a front of the rotation arm or else...

Playing loose with 0 pressure vs playing with high expectations. Definitely annoying

The psychological aspects definitely play a big role in baseball or any sports. Orioles have no pressure really and are playing loose. Blue Jays feel the pressure since they have had high expectations since Day 1.

Why do you post this passive aggressive s***? lol

Despite this team being in a playoff spot, it really hasnt been that fun cheering for this team this year. Its so weird.

Yeah they have felt like an average team most of the season despite being 10 games over .500.

The 2021 team seemed like it would be dangerous in the playoffs. This one seems a lot less so even factoring the randomness of the post season some times.

Yep. 21 was the lost season. Squandered. I suppose if this team goes on a heater it could look different in a month but I see no trajectory upward. Unfortunately I expect we will lose the top wildcard but make it in. Then bow out quickly as the holes drag us down. For the FO talk of "waves" coming in from the farm we also have a wave of dead money and arb years on its way in, and after 23 there is a wave going out of Chappy, LGJ, Teo. The deadline was milquetoast. Limper than Moreno's bat. We need to make some changes for '23, address the f***ing pen and make a real run at this. Expect the BoSox to be back on their feet next year. The AL is never easy.
