G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Couldn't agree more. Still pissed off lol. Whether Mayza was unusually bad is irrlevant. It doesn't change the impact of the Biggio bunt and Espy 3-0 swing at ball 4 decisions by coaching staff. (we arent sure if he was green lit) Relievers don't always just deliver perfectly of course for all teams, and decisions still have to be made that affect the game, in that aftermath. Also I'm glad I went to Saturdays game and not Sundays LOL
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 A. why give up an out? B. he is a pull hitter and even a GB to the right side or a deepish FB to RF gets the runner to 3B with one out. Maybe he wins it on a base hit or better. C. Biggio always looks like he sucks at bunting. He is more likely to blow a strike(s) bunting at it or on a foul; pop it up and/or bunt it right to the fielder. D. f***ing Espy and his 62 wRC+ followed Biggio Fax. Its like we saw the Guardians bunting a bunch and John had the itch to 1-up them

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 ok well that was not only Mayza’s fault there were so many things Schenieder didnt do yesterday 1. he supposed to bring Garcia to 8 th inning or even Romano for 2 inning save Romano didnt pitch for 5 days, so if I was manager I would use him for 2 innings 2. He trusted Belt too much it no one out and runner on 2 nd base you have to bunt Belt to move Runner to 3 rd, next batter was Guerrero Jr so he could hit walk off 3. he didnt challenge properly 2 days ago , 1 st inning it was safe at 2 nd base but he didnt do anything 4. players dont like Schenider because his brain doesnt function properly #analysis
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 For sure. The call for the bunt was just bad for several reasons. As was Espy swinging 3-0 whether it was a green light or his own decision. "I trust my dudes" around 1:40 mark. He trusts Espi to get his pitch and put a good swing on it. Nothing wrong with JS though it's all analytical department https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS9SMTRDYTlJaQ/episode/MWQ5OWRkZjQtNWYzMi00N2NiLThmY2QtYjU5MzVkOGVlOTMz?sa=X&ved=0CAQQ8qgGahcKEwiI-tiXoYCBAxUAAAAAHQAAAAAQAg

Reading into what a manager says in an interview is f***ing stupid. Don't do it.

FireAtkinsisamust Verified Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Atkins did nothing to improve my team that has pitched their hearts out! It’s embarrassing that we can’t bunt a ball! Mr. Schneider get off your ass make these take extra batting every night until they can lay down a bunt when their asked to. everyone on the offensive side of the ball must go!
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 It doesn't matter what he says, this is just confirmation that he's a moron and let Espi swing 3-0. It really isn't confirmation at all. Do you think he's going to throw Espi under the bus and say "He's an idiot, we didn't want him swinging 3-0" or "he missed the take sign"? The only confirmation is that you're drawing conclusions from manager interviews and that's stupid. On a side note, do teams give the "take sign" or "green light sign" on every single 3-0 count? I'm not so sure they do.
FireAtkinsisamust Verified Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 The Blue Jays have been waiting five months for things to turn around and nothing has changed. Ross Atkins your job is to make this team better and when you see an area that needs improvement you act on it. Your job is to make that happen sir. You have done nothing for this team my team this is been my ball team my favourite team for 46 years and this was supposed to be a year where we make a big splash explain to me why you did not try and improve our offensive.
FireAtkinsisamust Verified Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Try crowding the plate and getting hit every time there’s somebody in scoring position
FireAtkinsisamust Verified Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 These guys need to be thrown under the bus. They need to be embarrassed a little bit have some pride.
FireAtkinsisamust Verified Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Espinal stinks. Biggio stinks. Chapman stinks. Kirk stinks. Vladdy stinks and heÂ’s going to want $300 million. SomebodyÂ’s got to be clutch.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Given the Jays are fighting for a Wildcard spot and given the offensive struggles as a whole this year, Espinal should never again be in the starting lineup. This team needs to roll with the hot bats. Dave Schneider should be in the lineup everyday, no excuses.

Espi is on this team almost solely because he can play SS. I'd like to see them roll with Clement and see what happens.

That's why it was a good idea still to keep DeJong around despite his struggles, but not going to lose sleep over it. I would like to see them roll with Clement as well. Espinal could be used sparingly or as a late inning defensive replacement.

FO couldn't have had much confidence in Espy at SS for any sustained period. Might as well roll with Clement @ SS.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 John Schneider is a Shatkins knob-gobbler. Never liked him. What does that even mean? Like a manager has to work directly with his front office in this day and age or he's going to quickly find himself out of a job.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 Another game including at least one horrible decision. So bump. Agreed. There's a whole world of managers out there that never make a wrong decision. Jays should get one of them.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 John Schneider just said that he didn't consider pinch running for Kirk because they were down by 2, but if they were down by one yes. What a f***ing loser.
Jays333 Verified Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 This is what happens when you have an analytics clown like Atkins who wants a manager to shut the f*** up and do what he is told. Then you give a guy the full time job after just a 50 game sample size because you think he is your yes man, turns out he is a big dufus who cant even make the most simple baseball managing decisions.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 John Schneider just said that he didn't consider pinch running for Kirk because they were down by 2, but if they were down by one yes. That's Turrible
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 The point is that there are managers who don’t make wrong decisions every game. Most are bad, but it’s about finding the one that minimizes the number of poor choices. You can have the best manager in the world, if the players don't execute it's completely irrelevant.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 You can have the best manager in the world, if the players don't execute it's completely irrelevant. Yea. The game is won or lost between the lines - always has been. Still though, he sucks as a manager.
