probably just means he can't command it

the stuff+ part is like a measurement of POTENTIAL, not current total effectiveness

Maybe he's tipping the pitch sometimes?

BOS drafted and had Espinal in AA and HOU signed and had Teo in the majors...did not draft and develop them lol

The stupidity here,

So your logic is when with the Sox they developed him and all development stopped when they joins the Jays? Teo was an allstar when we traded for him? What he said is only true for pitching, jays have done a good job positionally overall.

Hosmer is heading to Boston, per team source.

I watched some clips and saw hanging sliders getting hit

I think it just pops out of his hand too much

maybe he has a small penis and small hands

It must be f***ing fun to be a Padres fan. They take big swings all the time. I hope that core wins multiple World Series so that’s the new model.

Teams hoard prospects and a lot of them never make it. And than ultimately get nothing for them. A key component in building a farm system is not only to develop your own talent but to use it for already established pieces. I teel so many teams are only focused on half this process.

Sounds like it's going to be a 3 way trade with whatever the Padres get back going to the Nationals. Assuming the Padres will eat the entire salary still. My guess anyways.

It's honestly shocking how many big level moves they've made. It's like they have a never ending supply of prospects. Their Scouting department deserves all the praise for other teams wanting their guys.

No dipshit...the original post was about draft AND development. Don't include guys that were basically in the majors when discussing DRAFT and development of said draft picks by the Jays...f***ing idiot

Remember when they went crazy on Justin Upton and Matt Kemp?

If you're into being the offseason or trade deadline champs I bet it's a blast. Just like the 2013 Blue Jays.

They do and that’s apart of the risk vs reward evaluation. I would rather be the guy trying to make something impactful happen rather than the one sitting around hoping it falls into my lap. I definitely don’t think passive is the right approach. You can’t be afraid to shake things up.

If only we got a generational player in that trade. I don’t see the comparison.

Nice

See, Pop has de-emphasized his slider (16%) from his arsenal, and for good reason – he simply has no feel for the pitch right now. Overall, in a very small sample size, the results (6.7% whiff, .578 xwOBA) aren’t promising, and he’s leaving it over the plate (56.4% whiff) far too much. Now, this wasn’t particularly a problem last year, but, even then, he hasn’t gotten hitters to expand the zone against it as you’d hope for, which ought to beg the question; can a new slider be added to expand his arsenal.

Well, good thing we know one pitch that would work perfectly with a sinker. Yep, I’m talking about the good ol’ sweeper. If you have a sinker running into righties and a sweeper running away, all coming from the same grip, that is FAR too much deception for an opposing hitter to deal with. Wait, aren’t we describing Clay Holmes? I’m not saying that’s the most likely outcome for Pop, but with the proper tweaks, a high-end reliever outcome certainly should not be discounted at all. He may not pop at first, but Zach certainly ought to garner your attention moving forward. As they say, beauty comes in all shapes and sizes!

Holy f*** man. So the development of prospects we traded for has no baring on how teams will view the value of players within our organization? You really jump off the deep end sometimes eh?

The Cardinals are basically the anthithesis of the Padres: they make a big high-profile addition a couple times a decade, and mostly draft and develop their teams. They have 21 0.500+ seasons in the last 22 years, 15 playoff appearances, and 2 world series titles over that time. Preller is fun to watch, but he's reckless and the Padres are probably going to suck within a couple years.
