I'm going to start trying to do more minor league coverage. Probably not nightly MILB recaps like we used to have but maybe more periodic recaps like weekly or monthly.

I thought about waiting till the end of April to do this first post but I was excited so I just put it out now.

I still have to figure out how I'm going to format the periodic recaps but for this "season-so-far" rundown I just gave snapshots of the system as a whole for now.

I also included game logs for a few "POI" (prospects of interest) based on pre-season hype, fan interest and top performers right now.

I can include more game logs if people have specific requests but this info is also readily available on FanGraphs if you need it.

Hope you guys like it!

Biggest personal takeaways: Bernal is a name I just learned and am going to follow big-time now, Palmegiani is in a brutal slump since starting the season hot and needs to adjust, Taylor and Capra continue to rake after huge 2021's and Barger and Cook are beating the cover off the ball.

I think Chad Dallas and Cullen Large have the most porn star names in the system

Casey Lawrence still out there grinding, chasing the dream at age 34. Unbelievable.

Hope he makes it back, he got demolished when he was up but he could never really miss bats. Maybe he's found something and gets one last shot at a pen spot somewhere.

I had dreams for you Hatch, why Hatch why???

Yeah I was going to comment on him too, but got distracted by Casey Lawrence. Looks like he is cooked?

Sure looks that way, his command was supposed to be above average, that's been chucked out the window. :P

He hasnt pitched in the majors in 2 years, and has dramtically improved his K rate, there's a decent chance he's made some changes. Walk rate in the minors still about the same as ever.

No, not saying he's some hidden gem, just saying that he might have actually ditched something, or added something recently that might give him a last chance at a pen spot somewhere.

Hatch, where, when, WAT?

I think he misread your post and thought you were talking about Casey Lawrence, haha.

I know... was just busting the big guy's balls. :P

I can see CL pitching this year in the show if he continues this success.

Pretty thin crop of prospects these days.

Not that I'm complaining given the major league talent right now.

Tiedemann, Juenger and Bernal all look like total studs in very small samples so far.

And of course, we have guys like Moreno, Martinez, Groshans and Beltre that we'll all be following.

It's not as good as Jays fans are used to but there are definitely some intriguing names to follow.

I always love to read about our prospects and keeping up with them. Havok used to do a daily report and it was always my favourite and i realize its a lot to take on. But this thread, Im beyond excited for it, and where you are gonna take it and please know the BJMB appreciates it!! Great job again TL. Between this thread and your new highlight thread, you've just made this site even more enjoyable. Thanks!!

I could see Ricky Tiedemann rising up kind of like Manoah. He hit 98 in his last start as a lefty.

The way you wrote that it sounds like he used to start as a righty and had recently changed to throwing left handed. That would be awesome.

We need more pitchers that go both ways.

Man - those daily reports were the tits. f***ing loved them (but I also understand the effort they took).

The first person to make these recaps was actually King! He did it for a really long time too. He was probably this forum's top contributor before he became a full-time shitposter.

When King stopped doing them, I tried for a bit:

And I even flipped the Minor League recaps into a series I was calling "Full Count" that went over all of the day's stuff, including the big league team:

And I'm guessing Havok started sometime after I left this board a second time.

The Full Count threads were probably my favorite contributions to this board aside from the amateur draft coverage but they took a TON of work. I thought about bringing them back in the past few days when I was thinking of how to increase MILB coverage here again but the MLBFarm.com website that used to supply those gorgeous box scores shut down. There are still resources similar to that but they have uglier box scores that are harder to work with for my OCD brain lol.

Shitposter?

lmao maybe that's unfair. I feel like I remember more of your recent comments and posts being intentionally sarcastic but now that I looked it was mainly just the Vlad Jr. to indy ball thread, which was a long time ago at this point.

What about Nathan Lukes? Originally a Cleveland draftee in 2015. The guy doesn't get enough respect in my opinion. When Bird flew the coop  during spring training I thought the guy had a legitimate shot. Hi slash line is always decent, and he is a good defender. He's not getting any younger. There is something there. Hope he gets an opportunity.

Here he is throwing out painfully slow JD in spring training;)....

I was doing them waaaaaaaay back on the MLB blue jays forum before this one split off to get away from the rabble. King picked up the mantle after this board began and my work hours changed. I did them way back when because I worked till 2am and had all kinds of time before going to bed to recap the minors.

If I recall correctly, I/we started the daily recaps around 2010ish when Syndergaard, Sanchez, Nicolino and Marisnick were all going through Lansing and we couldn’t stop reading the box scores nightly to see what an amazing future the Jays were about to have.

Not to mention household names like Gustavo Pierre, Balbino Fuenmayor, Marcus Knecht, Mike Crouse, Carlos Perez(cotf!), Drew Hutchison, Kenny Wilson, Sean Nolin…good times.

Might have even been sooner now that I look at some of those old rosters from 2008 , 2009….

Tyler Pastornicky, johmeryn Chavez, Mike McDade, AJ Jimenez and Henderson Alvarez…I remember going through those box scores every night
