Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Buck Martinez will be doing his last game today before he starts undergoing cancer treatments. The man has done it all with this franchise as a player, manager, and broadcaster. I'm sure all Blue Jays fans join me in wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Ah, had no idea. Get well soon, Buck.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 I know we have all had our issues with Buck over the years. I personally enjoy having him around the team in some capacity. I hope he recovers quickly and can get back to doing what he loves.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 People are way too judgemental . Buck is great, get well soon. There's a time and a place to critique Buck's play by play and colour commentary. This thread isn't it.
BuckHenry Verified Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 All the best to Buck … stay strong … and see you back on the air soon 👍⚾️
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I saw the broken leg play. It showed character. When I took a blind friend to a baseball game when Buck was manager, my friend asked for a certain player during autographs. The player wasn't doing them. Buck personally went and got him. He said nothing, he just did it. That too showed character. Buck has my best thoughts!!
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Aw man - this is awful. Buck and Jamie - you guys got this. Be fighters. f*** Cancer.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Aw man - this is awful. Buck and Jamie - you guys got this. Be fighters. f*** Cancer. It's crazy how they both have announced their illness within a 10 day span... you can hear Jamie's voice cackle in this clip, I'll share both in here for those that might've missed either announcement. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-broadcaster-buck-martinez-announces-hes-been-diagnosed-with-cancer/ Brings a tear, man. Surreal, we've all got their back.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 Wishing Buck the best. As a cancer survivor myself the battle never ends. It always hits home when i hear this. I am currently going through a battle myself I am almost to the end of it i have surgery next week to remove some Lymph nodes and hopefully that will be the end of it. Buck is a lot tought than me and i am sure Jamie is too so they will get through it.
