Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Little deeper than a quick check and you’d see really he’s the same hitter as last year. He’s just faced lefties at a lesser rate. If you give him the next 25 ABs against lefties to balance out the ratios, his numbers are prob worse this year. The responsible thing to do with defense is use a bigger sample size instead of just saying he’s better at fielding using the small sample size of this season. He’s the same as last year. Just used a little better lol
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 I thought Teo was back today? But Cavan is in flight!
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Shouldn't Moreno be seeing some action? Jansen hasn't done much in a while
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Shouldn't Moreno be seeing some action? Jansen hasn't done much in a while Base hit in yesterday’s game for the go-ahead??

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 a single..... with a drawn in infield? really? LOL Danny Jansen's last 10 games... PA 38, 13% BB, 10% K, .313/421/531, ISO 219, wOBA .415, wRC+ 177... Really??? LOL

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Jansen wRC+ up to 125 Is there a scenario where Jansen, Kirk, Moreno are all on the club in 2023? Moreno needs another position
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Author Posted September 11, 2022 Jansen wRC+ up to 125 Is there a scenario where Jansen, Kirk, Moreno are all on the club in 2023? Moreno needs another position This is too obvious, but Jansen for Pablo Lopez or Trevor Rogers makes an awful lot of sense for both teams. Add prospects to either side as necessary. Next year you have Kirk do the same C/DH role, with Moreno stepping into Jansen's role.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Given his speed, LF is possible I like 2B & 3B. I would have him work on those IF positions in the Offseason, and work on his launch angle and exit velos.

Moreno might be the best of all three at catcher but Jansen and Kirk are already an amazing tandem. I get how tempting it is to move Moreno off of C...but man is that a tough call. I think the move that makes the most sense is to have him take a lot of reps at 3rd base in the offseason. Then if he looks comfortable there it makes the decision to extend Chapman easier. In a couple seasons you maybe move Bichette if it looks like he is a high priced ticket the team can't afford, move Espy to SS, Biggio at 2nd and Moreno at 3rd. But at the end of the day Moreno might be the best catcher we have for the next 10 years. Damned good problem to have!

Hard to see him ever playing better than he is right now, and he could potentially fetch a very nice corner OF or pitcher with control. I’d say Kirk has the highest value of the 3 right now and he’s the most likely to fall apart quickly.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 No, no, no, no... So we just sit on all of 3 of them?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 So we just sit on all of 3 of them? No, move Jansen, I agree with Grant.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Author Posted September 11, 2022 You'd have to add Martinez to that at least. It's a no for me then, unless you mean Gabriel. Jansen and Lopez have the same amount of control and are similarly talented. Excellent defensive catchers with a good stick don't grow on trees. Rogers has more control, but this was a lost season for him. I'd add a bit more if the FO believes in him, but certainly not Orelvis.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Just play it on a loop and it legit is a beat.

Orelvis has dropped out of many top 100 lists his value has taken a hit, as well. If you're out you're out, but that's what it's likely going to take.

If you're out you're out, but that's what it's likely going to take. I get that he also has a lot of flaws, but 29 home runs at age 20 in AA is approaching 80 grade power. That's a slam dunk top 100 prospect. I think you undervalue Jansen or overvalue Lopez if you think we have to add a top 100 prospect, but I'll agree to disagree.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Didn't realize until now we have 2 "extra" games this week vs Tampa. 5 games in 4 days Glad they're at home!!!
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Let's trade our only good pitching depth for Whit Merrifield. Yes lets do that.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 You'd have to add Martinez to that at least. Lopez and Rogers have the value of Otto Lopez right now...both have been horrible large chunks of the year Jansen for either might be an overpay
