I believe the Yankees game is on Apple TV today. Can you imagine the uproar if Judge hits 61 (and 62?) during the game today when it's only available to Apple TV customers? Fans can't watch it and their own hometown YES announcers can't call the game? The bitching and moaning would be incredible and I would love ever second of it.

I believe there was talk that Apple would bring in Michael Kay and the YES booth to announce only during Judge at bats, and go back to the regular Apple TV crew for the rest of the game. Not sure if that is happening or not, but clearly people within the game are worried about Apple announcers messing that call up.

Apparently that’s not happening. Kay has said he won’t do it unless YES forces him. He doesn’t want to work with a crew he doesn’t know and he also doesn’t want to take the moment away from the Apple crew.

On the plus side, it looks like Stephen Nelson is the main PBP guy in the booth for the Yankees game. I'm not familiar with his game calling but the only thing I know about Apple TV games is that one broadcast with Melanie Newman as the lead announcer is unlistenable, and the other is less offensive, so Judge is getting the the less offensive of the two broadcasts if that's the case. Pujols would be getting screwed if he hits his 700th, but that's probably not happening tonight anyway since he needs 2 (possible but not likely).

I think we should pick him up. He's been surprisingly OK, and I think he would be an upgrade over the White/Kikuchi auto-loss we've been strutting out there.

He's also currently positioned to win the AL Triple Crown (Quadruple Crown if you add in runs scored).

I think we should pick him up. He's been surprisingly OK, and I think he would be an upgrade over the White/Kikuchi auto-loss we've been strutting out there.

 

He would serve no purpose other than to be an innings eater. His xFIP is a bit better because his walk rate went down but I doubt that's sustainable.
