That's like a 3rd of their payrolls last year lol

Tampa isnt dumb with their money though, they probably felt like adding 25 million for Freeman, while having Franco around at a reasonable rate would be the next step to the title. They're already a playoff team, and adding the final pieces to get those playoff Ws doesn't come cheap.

The Rays apparently had a decent offer in to Freeman also, 6/150 accoridng to the talking heads on MLB network.

That's a very non-Rays type of deal.

According to mlb sources the St Louis Cardinals has reached a deal with Blue Jays free agent Corey Dickerson. The deal is supposedly a 5 mil dollar 1 year deal with incentives.

I'm surprised he got close to Pederson and even more surprised that this got its own thread lol.

I want my backup OF to be able to play CF adequately and pinch run if needed. His bat wasn't good enough to offset that imo.

I also saw someone that tweeted they definitely saw Bigfoot

this is like when they signed Ian Desmond and made him a first basemen

except it's more money, so worse

It's only one metric but by Statcast OAA Bryant was actually better in left field than at third base. Doesn't change the fact that this is a batshit insane signing though.

I'm about to rectify your second point. This is absolutely not remotely threadworthy.

Blackmon should probably just shut his yapper until he starts actually being a productive player again...

Tepera to the Angels, 2/14

Was hoping the Jays would nab him

Yeah, that's a reasonable deal for him too.

Basically free. His knee is toast.

Buck Showalter said today one reason Ryan Flaherty made the Orioles as a Rule 5 pick in 2012 was because he brought two monkeys to a camp talent show that spring. The monkeys threw batting practice, and the Orioles were later fined by the health department, Showalter said.

More evidence of Orioles solid, SOLID decision making

I was almost expecting to keep reading and find out that the monkeys made the roster after leading the team in strikeouts and were candidates for Baltimore player of the year award.

was thinking of the same joke then double checked and realized the 2012 O's won 93 games

those monkeys were ACES

I assume they didn’t throw from behind a screen. Hopefully there were no liners on the ground up the middle. That wouldn’t be a good ending to the story

So Oakland is going to be terrible right? Does anyone think this is one of those years where everyone expects them to be terrible and they win 90 games? Go on record now and look like a genius in 6 months!

Outside of the Astros, it's still a pretty weak division.

Pitching wise I think they'll be fine and they will add some bullpen pieces. They need some bodies to play infield. They have Eric Thames though haha. I could see the A's targeting some free agents on the cheap who could have bounceback seasons. They could scratch out 85-90 wins if they get lucky with some guys.

I tried to squint and see an 85-90 season, because its the A's. Maybe if they keep Manaea and Montas? If those two move, it looks really, really bad. The lineup is awful.

They have the worst projected offense in the league by far (4.10 runs per game, 2nd worst is the Pirates at 4.32). I don't see a way in which they don't finish as one of the worst teams in the league. And they are expected to sell Manaea and Montas so there goes the rest of their pitching staff.

If they get lucky, they might be able to finish in the upper 70's in win totals.

It's a shame, because the previous Oakland team was really fun. Probably one of my most watched teams last year. The fans in Oakland deserve better.
