Laika Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 How many pitches can we expect out of Merryweather? 40-50? 3-4 innings? No, half that probably. 30 pitches would be a lot. He's opening for Stripling I assume.

BCZ Verified Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Jesus christ, what was it like 11 BBs we def should of lost this game... why is it every time we play the Rays my blood pressure sky rockets... it's getting super annoying.
BCZ Verified Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Also why do the Rays have to be this perfectly f***ing oiled machine every time we play them

It was a weird game from Manoah. He was walking guys and losing the zone but it never felt like he was in extreme danger. Effectively wild, sort of?

Effectively wild, sort of? That was what I was thinking of the whole time.. "effectively wild"... it was fine but then to have two BP guys come in and walk so many was just frustrating AF.

They had 16 guys reach base (11 BBs) and scored twice. The Rays are really good but they left a win right on the table. This board would have added 12 pages to the Fire Montoyo thread if the Jays had the same performance.

The fact that they worked those 11 BBs to begin with. It's the way every single AB or play seems to well executed that annoys me. They were just extremely unlucky to hit balls at guys at the wrong times.

I don't really agree that they worked a whole lot tbh. Manoah, Richards, and Romano all went completely wild at times. Six or seven of those walks weren't even close and may as well have been intentional just to conserve pitch count. Not to mention the umping embarrassments we all saw re: balls and strikes. The Rays were handed the game by both the Jays and the umps and they barely did anything with their opportunities, and then lost.

Definitely an odd game for Manoah, but despite the 6 walks and 5 hits in his 6 innings of work he still had only a 4.33 FIP for the game.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Yup it was reaaaaaly bad. Even for Joe West
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Yup it was reaaaaaly bad. Even for Joe West And yet, still not as bad as Monday's game.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 And yet, still not as bad as Monday's game. He was actually worse than Kulpa. He had 92% accuracy outside the zone and 90% inside. West was 91% outside, 89% inside. And both games, the 6 calls that were blown that made the most impact were all against the Jays. Just insane how bad those two have been the last 2 nights.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Yup it was reaaaaaly bad. Even for Joe West Once again, the top 3 worst calls were all calls against the Jays. Nice we were able to get the win there.
