There probably isn't room for him on the 40 at the end of the season so he would have been lost for free. We have too many catchers as it is. Hand is a veteran in the pen. The pen is looking Okay right now, but you could have 3 guys get hurt in a weak. We need the depth. We're not going to rue the day we traded Riley Adams.

That would sound great if Hand was having a great season and wasn't a free agent in a couple of months. I'm just not a fan of trying to push for a wild card birth considering the position we're in currently.

I think you still have to go for the WC if you have the chance. Obviously, you don't go all-in for a WC but the opportunities don't come around all the time. If you win that WC game then you never know - offensively we have enough to win - Ryu/Ray is a respectable 1-2 punch in the playoffs.

It cost a nothing prospect so why not - it's not like we gave up Groshans.

I still think we're going to trade for Scherzer and Ramirez and it's going to be a Christmas in July miracle. Otherwise gloom exists for August my friends.

The Jays are basically in their 1983 season and apparently gloom exists. Even if this team is out of it by end of August, plenty of things to be excited about. But I remain optimistic. Fourth best run differential in the AL, indicating a playoff team. The team just lacks a long winning streak. 11 game home stand against mostly mediocre teams and the first time playing a true home game in nearly two years is a perfect recipe for that winning streak to occur.
