Defensive runs saved has McGuire as the better defensive catcher for the career numbers. They are both pretty good defensive catchers. It's a matter of whether you want a good character guy who everyone likes and has a right handed bat on the bench or a lefty weirdo who jerks off in the parking lot, but who actually has slightly better career numbers.

 

I don't get the argument that Jansen is way better than McGuire. Athletically he looks like he should be, but he hasn't shown in yet in the bigs. He could be a late bloomer like D'arnaud.

d'Arnaud has much better pitch recognition and doesn't look like he's swinging a 40oz bat. If Jansen really wants to improve, he needs to get on an off season strengthening program for starters.

That's why I asked you about optioning Jansen. Reese is out of options, as why I believe he'll be moved. As for my eye test, Jansen>>McGuire(hence my he's s*** comment). Jays aren't going to worry about that option, someone's going out by the deadline, just depends on how the FO rates them, we'll see shortly.
