Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Baseball pulling a Disney for show. There’s no way they could reasonably expect this to stand based on precedent. Break out the popcorn. But Bauer officially done as LAD either way. That was always going to be though I don't think Bauer even has a legal remedy available here. He would have to prove the decision was vindictive and biased. Good luck with that!

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I agree with your sentiment that politics are all over the initial decision by mlb. I’m not sure who the arbitrator would be and would guidelines and influences they’d be under Is arbitration even available under the collective agreement for this? I doubt it. He would have to litigate which would probably take years anyway.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I still don't know what MLB is claiming he did wrong. Consensual rough sex? That's pretty Victorian. The investigators would make their findings and recommendation based on a balance of probabilities. The fact the DA considered laying charges but in the end decided the burden of guilty beyond reasonable doubt, much higher bar, could not be met, is pretty damning.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 He means the appeal panel I think I actually didn’t know the process and just used an umbrella term for whoever would decide on the appeal

Not charging Bauer with anything is not "pretty damning" lol. If anything, it's absolving. Maybe it's not 100% exoneration so it's not a complete win for Bauer but it definitely isn't damning.

Term already handled it though

Buster Verified Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 It seems I'm in a minority in liking Bauer. I find his on field antics entertaining, his YouTube is often interesting, he's a pretty good pitcher, and he had an interesting take on his contact. I don't care about people's sex lives or preferences.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I used to like him. I'm pretty indifferent on him now.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 lol you lose, you've already been wrong multiple times in this thread
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 you lose I think his civil case against her came first and THAT actually seems pretty strong from the tidbits we know

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Oh. Well actually I’ve always said this would be his downfall if true. We’ll see how legit it is
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 you and term have been wrong throughout this thread, best stop now Really I’ve always said TB’s goose is only cooked if they start coming in numbers. The original accuser has serious credibility issues
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 My first post on this was that the Bauer part goes nowhere unless there is corroboration ie. other women that Bauer did nonconsensual things to. First page of this thread. The corroboration is what has ended Bauer's MLB career.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I think everyone expected a suspension. Maybe 100 games or something. The problem is the lack of consistency when assigning punishment. The vendetta held against Bauer by MLB along with saving the Dodgers ass is the only reason for 300 games. You cannot justify 20 for Ozuna, 100 or whatever for Chapman and 300 for Bauer. Impossible

MLB doesn't want someone like that around.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 If they painted him as a serial rapist, that’s only way I could make sense of the suspension. It looks like maybe they’re going that way is this “leak” just dropped
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 If true, Spanky fleeced me again. f***er
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 He's simply getting cancelled, ridiculous. Being someone who was banned from this forum for using the hard n-word, you should probably sit this one out.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 you lose, you've already been wrong multiple times in this thread No Jim I was actually pretty spot on. Here's my first post on the matter. Team Bauer has to be praising the heavens for this friend coming forward. Definitely shows some premeditation going on. Even so, this is the #MeToo era where "believe all women" automatically is the mantra. He likely skates on criminal charges but could still be subject to some sort of lengthy suspension. As evident by changing the All-Star game location over a milquetoast election law, Manfred has shown he has no balls and will cower in fear when the libs come after him. This is pretty much exactly what happened. Evidence showed Bauer didn't do it and he skated on criminal charges but I said he could still face a lengthy suspension. But Manfred has no balls and let's outside influences affect his decisions. No other way to spin 20 games for those charge and 320 games as well a full season of admin leave for those not even charged with anything. I was 100% right about everything. Nice try Jim, but if you take a shot at the Sheriff you better not miss! If you have any class at all you'll apologize for saying I was wrong.

Politics wasn't a factor in the decision, it was based on the fact Bauer is a serial abuser.
