BCZ Verified Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Glad to see Rowdy go. He's a bad player who probably beat up his girlfriend. He'll be out of MLB in 2 years or less. Why would you even say this???
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 You actually think Rowdy had a girlfriend? He does. He posted a pic with her at Niagara Falls recently. I like rowdy. Hope he does well unless its against us. Not too optimistic.
Bluebombers Verified Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I liked Rowdy as well, always struck me as a "hold my beer while I hit" kind of guy. Beer league masher,,,obviously much better , but just my personal amusement thoughts of he
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Author Posted July 7, 2021 Why would you even say this??? Rowdy's ex-girlfriend used to tweet about it all the time. Not saying he's guilty of anything or not, just that's what happened. Sorry, I mean she used to tweet about some vague form of abuse (unclear what happened) and then nothing ever came of it.

Sorry, I mean she used to tweet about some vague form of abuse (unclear what happened) and then nothing ever came of it. I remember this. It was a bunch of cryptic twitter posts about "what he did to her" and stuff like that. Then we figured out she was talking about him based on past tweets (she was already part of Jays fan twitter) and someone posted the tweets here. Shortly after that she made some tweet like "I've been found! f***!" and she deleted her account.
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Fans on the Brewers forum seem fairly satisfied with this trade as well. I was a little surprised by that since I thought we won the deal by a decent margin. Hopefully this is a big win-win deal for both teams. That's debatable not everyone happy about this trade on the brewer fan site:(I hope we are getting another player back in return. A straight up 1-1 trade does not make sense. Richards is a decent bullpen piece that can spot start. That's got to be worth more than a AAAA 1B/DH with some upside potential. Ron Robinson hit it on its head. Stat wise, this is Vogelbach's clone.) This trade served a purpose for both teams. The Brewers were in need of a 1st baseman with Vogelbach sideline and the Blue Jays were in need of some pitching badly. I see this as a big WIN for the Blue Jays anytime you can unload an unwanted piece of your team puzzle for 2 badly missing pieces has to be good. Richards is a reliable reliever who can give you multiple innings were the Jays has been struggling badly lately. Plus Francis a good prospect that could become a starter plus depending how things goes it's possible we might see him up in later parts of this season. Let's face it Tellez days were numbered in the Jays organization luckily they were able to trade him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Why would you even say this??? Because it’s true and I haven’t forgotten about it.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Because it’s true and I haven’t forgotten about it. There was hardly even a clear accusation of any wrongdoing, let alone any information or proof to back up whatever imaginary scenario you have concocted.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Good job by the FO. You could probably spin the Tellez deal as a fair one just for Francis lmao. As for the Brewers, not sure what they are thinking. Are they suffering from Prince Fielder syndrome? Planning on switching back to the AL? I've never seen a team so obsessed with building 1B depth. Especially in the NL. He could pan out to be a good hitter for them or be in Japan in two years.

There's a fine line between abusing someone and merely absorbing them into your gravitational influence. What Jupiter did to Shoemaker–Levy 9 looked pretty violent too.
EastCoaster Verified Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Here one baseball sportcaster take on the Rowdy Tellez trade: This past Tuesday the Brewers traded for Blue Jays’ first baseman and designated hitter Rowdy Tellez, who remarkably has been as-bad-or-worse than all the aforementioned first basemen for Milwaukee so far this season. Tellez has only played 50 games of Toronto’s 83,and has a 65 wRC+. He only has nine extra base hits this season, and has a .209/.272/.338 slash line. He’s basically served as a bench player the last few weeks because a) the Jays don’t really have a spot for him, with Vlad Guerrero Jr. playing first and better hitters available for the DH slot, which has been rotated among other sluggers like George Springer and Bo Bichette (among others). The Brewers are well-positioned going into the trade deadline, and they have a near-90 percent chance to make the playoffs and an 85 percent chance to win the Central. That said, they are probably the third or fourth best team in the National League right now, and would likely be underdogs in any short series against any of the other National League playoff hopefuls. The Brewers need an upgrade at first base going into the second half. Rowdy Tellez is not the answer.
InsideThePark Verified Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 I think Rowdy could be the answer. But it's not likely enough to give up what they gave up to find out

Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 If Atkins can get this haul for Rowdy, leaves me wondering what he could get for a redundant Jansen or McGuire? A friend said something to me the other day which made me laugh since its so true..."a terrible GM can survive for a long time if his greatest asset is his ability to find the worse GM in the league and only make deals with them"!

EastCoaster Verified Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 I think Rowdy could be the answer. But it's not likely enough to give up what they gave up to find out That's the trouble it's a crap shoot with trading and drafting of players there's no guarantees. Do you think if the Jays could've predicted what kind of player Gio Urshela would turn out to be for the Yankees they would sold him for 25,000 as turned out he's ranked one of the top 10 3rd baseman in the league right now. This deal make Atkins look stupid and Cashman a genius. The same with this deal if Richards and Francis turnout to be legit for the Jays then Atkins will look like a genius. Irregardless anytime you can get a 2 for 1 deal on AAA status player for pitching which is the hardest commodity to find in the game right now is win situation in my books.
Virgil_Hiltz Verified Member Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 No...absolute not!...wasnt impressed with Atkins at the start but I dont see how we could expect any better than whats been delivered to us with Atkins and Shapiro! I thought what my friend said was funny...could be the second worse GM but he looks good due his dealings with the worse GM!...nothing more...nothing less

Can't tell if you're agreeing with me, or also didn't understand my post. I was replying to the post above mine looking at the trade from the Brewers perspective. It wasn't worth giving up what the Brewers gave up to see if Rowdy was the answer for them.

Tellez is having a bad year and there was no signs that he was getting out of it anytime soon. His demotion was probably the best thing for him to see if he could get things in order but unfortunately with Vladdy at first eliminated his chances of ever becoming a full time Blue Jays. Luckily Atkins was able to deal him to the Brewers for some decent pitching which is more than what I'd ever expected in return.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 Tellez has been dreadful in limiting playing time in MIL so far

EastCoaster Verified Member Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 The Milwaukee Brewers traded one good reliever and a good pitching prospect for a part-time bench player at best the Brewers only used him as a PH only where he has yet to get a single hit. They haven't look at him for first base doesn't look good when Vogelbach is re activated. Good Job by Atkins to be able to dump him off to the Brewer for some pitching. This was a much anticipated trade with the writing clearly on the wall for sometime. The thing that surprised me the most was the return that Mark and Ross were able to pry away from the Brewers good job guys the Blue Jays were certainly the big winners in that trade.
