People are rightfully going to praise McGuire for his excellent throw in the ninth but big props to Romano for going with a rare slide step to give McGuire a chance in the first place. Must be something he's worked on with the coaching staff because that's the first time I can remember him busting it out in game.

Yeah, since Stripling's ERA went above 7 and he went and asked for some tips/help from the coaching staff, his 6 starts since his ERA is down close to 2.00. And in that stretch he's pitched against Tampa, Boston, Cleveland, Houston, the Yanks and now Miami. Some some big hitting ball clubs too, definitely not gimme's.

 

Atkins is starting to look like a genius for going out and getting him.
