Tellez has an average exit velocity of 94.1. His hard hit percentage is 52.2%(39% is league average). He needs to take more walks. The walk tonight was encouraging. It's almost incomprehensible that he only has 2 homers. It's a lot of bad luck. He's going to elevate some balls and hit them out. His strike out rate is 22%, which is not bad at all considering his numbers. His at bats have been sporadic, which is tough for any player. Some people have completely given up on the big guy, without digging in. He's had crap luck. A couple dingers and some confidence and he could get on a hot streak.

Jansen is nearly in the top 30% when it comes to catcher framing according to Baseball-Savant.

 

It's okay to be emotional. It's not okay to be dumb.

 

Say what you will but Jansen cost Romano that low strike by stabbing down at it before bringing the glove back up, way too much movement. You all can suck Jansen's cock all you want, but he's still s*** all around except for blocking. If he's in the top 30% at framing, then the art of framing has declined throughout the league. He's been the primary catcher since the beginning of 2019. He's played 218 man games in his career and is sporting a .198 BA wirh a OBP of .285 to go with his .636 OPS.

 

He's not some seasoned defensive guru that warrants starting 75% of the time. He's a decent back up catcher and that's it. McGuire should be getting more starts versus RHP, he can handle any of our starters just as well.

He also gives out daily reminders as to where to go for vaccination. I've used all his tips and have been vaccinated 11 times.

Normally I don't use the spreadsheets... but I decided in this case to use one. Looked at the spread sheet collumn wRC+ since 1977

 

Top 4 are Barry Bonds 2001-2004 - wRC+ 212-240

 

However according to the spread sheet right now Vladdy JR is operating at 1994 Frank Thomas/Jeff Bagwell level. Raw numbers not quite that good but adjusted for league levels are about the same

 

Not sure if I should believe it without watching the games myself, will get out the VHS and watch some tapes from 1994 and compare to video of Vladdy's recent at bats.
