Vladdy's got the third highest position player WAR in the majors at 1.7... until you remove the plate appearance qualifier and realize Byron Buxton is actually #2 and doesn't even show up because he hasn't played enough.

I'm a little perplexed that they decided to option Rowdy considering he was starting to play well lately, especially for Travis Bergen.

 

And Ryu seemed sure he wasn't going to miss a start but the 10-Day IL stint means he's at least going to miss one.

We get Springer back but lose Ryu. Life isn't fair for a Jays fan.

 

Also, really surprised that we're optioning Tellez. I get that we prefer to cycle people through the DH position so he'd lose a lot of plate appearances but thought he could provide some pinch hitting opportunities.

 

Guess we prefer to get his bat back on track and don't want to waste anymore major league at bats for that to happen.

It's the 10 day DL as of now but who knows what actually happens at the end of that period. Jays aren't the most transparent organization with injuries and with our luck, it's hard to be fully optimistic.

I had the same reaction but seems like Springer will be DH for a little while. I'm guessing that as soon as Springer can play CF, Tellez will come back up.

 

Although we're still losing out on his pinch hits during that time. But it should be better for his development to get full time playing time with the minor league season starting.

Lets hope Biggio can hit somewhere else other than the leadoff spot lol. He was just getting heated up. Adding Springer to the lineup is a fun replacement.
