Some Braves reporter that writes for the Athletic says Toronto agreed to terms last night on Brantley.

 

 

Likely means an OF of Brantley, Springer and then Teo with Grichuk and LGJ as trade bait.

 

Wouldn't surprise me to see LGJ traded for pitching with Teo DHing if Vlad plays at 3rd.

It just pushes Fisher, Davis and Alford further down the depth chart

 

Speaking of Fisher - isn't he a DFA candidate? No options and that mental block in the field...we haven't heard anything about him this offseason - will they keep him around as a 5th OFer? Maybe they do through spring training just as insurance if there's an injury?

Only if he cleared waivers - he's out of options.

 

With the Springer addition there should be no room on the major league roster for Fisher, it's time to move on. He should start packing his bags for Baltimore.

I wonder what their plans are with the catchers. McGuire is out of options, and they can't really give Kirk multiple DH starts a week with Brantley/Vlad/Tellez all in the fold. They'll either have to cut McGuire or option Kirk. Does McGuire have trade value?

Yeah, Kirk is either starting catcher in the bigs (Jansen traded) or he starts in AAA. I don't think they'll use him as a backup, and there will be no DH AB's for him with Brantley and others in the fold.

The only way the last 24 hours could get better is if someone posted on Instagram or Twitter footage of Captain Kirk's off-season workout regimen and he had turned into a Roman god.

Real possibility that Kirk is the trade chip we're dangling out there for a SPer. There are lots of teams that may not want ML players (says Pittsburgh for Taillon)

Pretty sure 95% of the sports world was expecting us to move one of our OFers for a SP. We were even super close to getting Brantley so I guess management must hate him too lol.

 

Grichuk has been great thus far but we've all seen good grichuk and bad grichuk before. Heck, the same thing happened last season but lets hope he keeps carrying it forward
