G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Could Lourdes be our 3rd base solution if we sign Springer? Meh Hopefully not
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Could Lourdes be our 3rd base solution if we sign Springer? He'd be better than Vlad.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 He'd be better than Vlad. That's not *enough* better Get Didi or Turner (if we don't trade for a better SS and move Bo to 3B)
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 That's not *enough* better Get Didi or Turner (if we don't trade for a better SS and move Bo to 3B) Or sign Springer, move Gurriel to 3B, Davis 4th OF, and allocate the money for Didi or Turner to pitching.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Or sign Springer, move Gurriel to 3B, Davis 4th OF, and allocate the money for Didi or Turner to pitching. Has he ever played 3B before??? lol... this is ridiculous.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Has he ever played 3B before??? lol... this is ridiculous. Just being devil's advocate. Gurriel was the Jays primary SS for a year and has a good arm.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Just being devil's advocate. Gurriel was the Jays primary SS for a year and has a good arm. Yeah, true. Not that far fetched, but highly unlikely.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2020 Posted December 30, 2020 Yeah, true. Not that far fetched, but highly unlikely. If Gurriel doesn't work out at 3B, there's always Vladdy lol
Key22 Verified Member Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 Is there a reason we don't offer contracts with vesting options based on plate appearances or other incentives. It seems AA was more open to those. Example: DJL was predicted to land a 4/67m deal via MLB traderumours. So the Jays have to overpay. Why not the following offer? 4 years $88m Vesting options 2 years $32m if 2100 plate appearances. Or 1yr $16m team option if vesting option not met. 2m buyout Age concerns are mitigated and if he is not able to play second 16m for a dh or 1b is not terrible.

AA had a strict policy against incentive filled contracts and against deals over 5 years I don't think the current front office does
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 If this is true, seems like they just got outbid on the dollars or the Kim fam just picked SD

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 (edited) Can't blame him for picking rhe Padres if the offers were equal Shrug Edited January 2, 2021 by G-Snarls
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 Looks like Kim got a bit more money than initially reported. 28M guaranteed with an extra 4M in incentives. Posting fee is 5.25M and is in addition to his deal. Then they have a mutual option at the end for some reason. I think the initial report was 25M but it's more like 37.25M with the fee, if he hits the incentives.
