It's just you.

When you look at the Vlad highlights in the DWL you can still say he could lose a few pounds, but when you watch his 2020 highlights it's clear he's gone through a transformation with his body. He's a better version of himself and he can continue to get better. The kid is having fun and getting some swagger back. Glad to see him having fun and working on his craft.

Ditto, I think he's done a fantastic job so far on his body, he still has a ways to go but he should be commended for it. I'd love to see him get back to where he was when he debuted in proball. He looked like his dad, but he was super young then. He's tearing the DWL a new ******* last time I looked, haha, love it!

I am not sure when you are referencing. DUDE has been a chunko his whole life. Vlad sr was a bean pole.

I'm not saying something he's not, but these pics explain what I'm talking about, meat.

He was probably like 14 in that first pic lol, he'll literally never look like that again. The second pic he's 18 and he looks a fair bit pudgier already.

Sorry dont know how to embed youtube.

He was pretty skinny here. Not expecting him to be that slim again, but he still looks like he could drop some pounds. Much better than last year though.

I'd take that 18 year old frame all day, lol. In the end he's being doing a great job thus far.

This is getting into tabloid territory, but Vlad really just seems like a fatty by nature.

Even when he was young and more fit, he had a ton of weight on his body and a very wide frame (that's where the power comes from, right...)

He gained such an alarming amount of weight in 2020... like, an amount of weight that a normal person could not gain without, say, trying to get as fat as possible for a movie role or something like that. I think that was a bit telling. You probably need a combination of large frame + fatness genes + bad habits to do that.

Hopefully his commitment to fitness now is legitimate but I'd still put money on him getting fat again, or at least yo-yo-ing for most of his career.

To put things in context for Vladdy

Weight ranges from 240 to 280

Ground ball rate ranges from 45% to 55%

Defense ranges from -20 to -5

If he can get close to 240, 45% and -5 he is no doubt an 8 WAR player

If he is 280, 55%, and -20 he is a 0 WAR player.

The weight might control the other two?

8 WAR too high?? John Olerud did 8 WAR twice, a 240 pound lightning cat Vlad with ground ball problems fixed, defense improved from "historically bad" to "just a bit bad" can do 8 WAR... might not get there we will see.

I'd take a better defensive Delgado all day, hoping for more, though.

Who remembers Juan Francisco's bomb against the Reds like 4 years ago when they were down 8 and came back and won with like three innings to play? I DO!

I was at a Jack and Jill, haha!

His weight was not a factor in fielding balls to his right hit at our 2nd baseman, or misplaying popups a minor leaguer would nab. Dude is just never going to be a good defender.

Even if he came in at 205 lbs.

Yup. He's a 1B/DH.

I didn't say he is going to be a good fielder. I said if he could go from -20 runs below average to -5 it would make a big difference in his WAR.

Sorry guys, but he's looking as fat as ever.

And I mean no harm whatsoever. It is what it is:
