C'mon man.. An elimination game in the WS should be approached as an isolated incident, not like a mid season game where the vast majority of the analytical information is gathered.

You mean like Game 7 v. the Astros when Cash followed his gut and stuck with Morton who got himself out of trouble and lead them to the World Series?

Wait a minute....

He was amazing during the regular season, no question. But he's given up runs in the last 6 outings. In last 9.2 innings he's had 16 base runners on. SSS or not, the risks are too great to put him in a 1 run game in the WS. I'm sorry, this is the wrong move.

Yeah. I can totally respect what Rays try to do and Cash said outright yesterday that’s exactly what they’re going to do (give it to the BP early if it’s a tight game as that’s their M.O) but it’s not like Anderson had one or two fluke bad games, he’s clearly going through a rough stretch and getting hit regularly.

So at the very least, it’s a legit question on the move.

Would've been weird for a team to win a championship and then move to a different city in a couple of years.

Rays are not moving anywhere. They are among the most profitable teams over the past 3 seasons.

But here is the thing with numbers and "stuff". He was the best reliever in baseball over the past 90 innings. If he was a proven "closer" no one would question the move. Rays if they didn't see a huge difference in his "stuff"....you go to the best pitcher you've had over the past 2 years. The average velo was still 95.6. in the end Nick Anderson's last 90 innings was better than any 90 innings of Snell's cy young.

In the end. Snell couldn't get Austin Barnes out. If he gets Austin he probably sees Betts.

Well this year and next won’t be good for them with the gravy train stopped (rev sharing)

All Dodgers players are receiving rapid tests after the game. It probably would have been smart to do that before the game. What's the point in testing at all if the results arrive during the game?

Doesn't care or it was a false positive. I'll wait to see before judging.

Rosenthal just reported that Turner tested positive twice and the first one was yesterday

Don't think you'll be waiting long for judgement, then

Oh boy... this will not go well for MLB. Probably explains why Manfred sounded like he was having a stroke when he was asked that question.

Doesn't seem like it, news is coming quickly.

This is f***ing insane TBH

I really can't believe this is happening

Puts a huge damper on the World Series. MLB can never do anything right. f*** right off

He most likely infected everyone before he even tested positive. Straight up kissing your wife when you know you have COVID is really special though.

Well, if he didn't infect everyone before, he certainly did now. Good job on assuring that, at least. Not to mention Kenley Jansen has a pre-existing heart condition and Dave Roberts is a cancer survivor.

And not to mention all the non-player personnel on the field, including staff and players family.

This is mega-f***ed

Gonna guess he's a strong Trump supporter for the 0 f***s given approach lol.

Wait a minute....

Morton was pitching well (Go look at his pitching line from that game). And the said inning question went like this: K, BB, Fielder's Choice, Infield hit. Not like he was struggling. As for Anderson coming in and getting the out, yes he did. And what happened the next inning he pitched? Line out to Center, Single to Deep Right, Single to Right Center. He did get the DP after that but was lucky not to give up any runs. So what if this had happened 1 batter earlier (remember there was already 2 runners on when they lifted Morton)? At least 2 runs would have scored and then it's 3-2.

I'm not saying it's farfetched to argue that putting Anderson in was a defensible move. But you have to remember he wasn't in mid season form (he had give up a run in 3 straight appearances, his WHIP was increasing, and his K levels were dropping). He was fortunate things worked out.

And now to on to this game. Blake Snell 5.2 IP 2 H 0 BB's and 9K's on and you take him out after a lousy single (which was the 2nd hit of the night)? I'm sorry, I'm not pulling him there. And if you were to pull him, why would you put in Anderson who has (God I'm tired of repeating this) allowed a run in 6 straight appearances (9.2 IP) and has a 6.52 ERA during that span? It doesn't make sense.

Meh 2019 revenue sharing was $118M for each team. Rays contributed $95M. Yes it's a 10% increase on their bottom line but this isn't 2016 rev sharing

In the last 6 appearances Anderson has allowed at least a run. He's had 17 runners on during that span. In the last 9.2 IP he's allowed 7 runs. This is too dangerous to play with in a 1 run game in the WS, which by the way you will get eliminated if you lose. And don't bring up his 0.55 ERA in the regular season. He is not that guy right now.
