Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 Holy f*** shut the f*** up about ratings. The Yankees and their entitled fanbase can go f*** themselves. The Rays are a loveable underdog going up against the two villains of the league. If no one wants to watch that then who f***ing cares? Having the big market teams winning all the time is f***ing boring. It's what's happening in the NBA and except for the Raptors championship the last few Finals have been boring as f***. YES!!! cf
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Difference between jays and rays. Rays lineup features unheralded players who overacheive. Jays have a core of players with famous MLB father's who are expected to be great players. The more compelling story are the rays

On what planet are the Rays lovable? The 'lovable underdog' that no one in their own f***ing state wants to watch? Give me a f***ing break. I know you're on the Rays dick, and you and the three other people in the US who will watch the Rays in the World Series can have a blast, but it's bad for the sport. No one in Tampa will care, and no one in America will care. 300k watched the Rays/Jays Game 2. That's WNBA numbers, and you can't blame the Jays because Canadian viewers don't count in US ratings. The cheating Astros facing both of the teams they cheated out of potential titles, or the f***ing Rays who underpay everyone and no one cares about. Tough choice. Boring is always better than riveting.

The Rays are a significantly better team and were easily the best team in the AL in the best division in baseball. The Jays are on the tail end of a rebuild just scratching the surface of competitiveness. Hmmmmm, nope it must be that one team has famous fathers and the other doesn't, that must be it!
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Rooting for that spicy Astros vs Dodgers WS. I do not want to watch the A's but with s*** uniforms in the WS.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 The Rays used their best relievers in their MLB best bullpen to shut down an offense. This was not even close to the ******** the Jays have dealt with in the past. A Rays Game™ for example, would be the Yankees making stupid fielding errors and the Rays hitting go ahead squibbers that sneak through the infield. Touche.

Boring is always better than riveting. Are you the commissioner of baseball? Who f***ing cares? The teams have plenty of money, the value of a qualifying offer is going up following a shortened season in a pandemic. TV money is still coming in through the pipes. The Rays are revolutionizing how roster construction and analytical scouting is made, whether you like it or not. They're maximizing the value of their players, which by the way feature some pretty exciting pitchers as we saw on display tonight, and are doing the best out of a s***** situation where they have by far the least amount of resources in the league. The Yankees can go cry themselves to sleep with their piles of money, I'm sure half of MLB's fanbase was pretty thrilled that they got knocked the f*** out by a team with a tenth of their payroll and resources. I found Glasnow, Nick Anderson, Pete Fairbanks, Choi and Arozarena pretty damn thrilling that series. The Dodgers are still in it by the way. You can go edge yourself to the millions of fans and their player contract pages, despite the fact that the team essentially follows the Rays' model with ten times the resources.

I found Glasnow, Nick Anderson, Pete Fairbanks, Choi and Arozarena pretty damn thrilling. I don't have any favorite teams aside from the Jays, so if they are not involved, then at least give me the best matchups that will be better for national exposure. I wanted the Lakers/Clippers in the NBA playoffs. The Raptors were gone, so might as well root for the better matchup rather than any cinderella team that most people wouldn't care about. Astros/Yankees (and now Astros/Dodgers) is the better matchup. Subjectively we can disagree on that, people enjoy different things, but no one can say that the Rays will have any sort of national (or even local) interest. That doesn't benefit anyone. It's more fun watching something that you know everyone else is watching. That won't be the case if the Rays go deeper. If the Rays had a Tatis Jr. type of superstar, then my opinion might be different since I'd watch just to see him, but there's not a single positive to the Rays going far unless you actively root for them. Literally any other team aside from the Rays would have been fine with me, but like I said, I know how this story ends. They are making the WS and probably winning it.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 On what planet are the Rays lovable? This f***ing Planet! I'd pull out my full drunken gloat but there are bigger moments to do that still.

I know I’m in the minority on this forum when it comes to the Rays, but I have to fight the good fight. You guys will come around someday....

You guys will come around someday.... Actually I find that more and more Jays fans are hating the Rays (and there are only a handful on this forum who appreciate the Rays F.O.). I understand that actually as the Jays have spent years complaining about being in the AL East against the big spenders.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Huge moment for Brosseau Have to love it
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Lots of annoying Yankees fans on the radio the last couple days wanting to know who to blame Blame the Rays pitching...
