Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Hatch is all over the place. Was lucky that Harper bailed him out.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 FFS, that went from a routine DP to a disaster.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 What a play by Vlad to get the out at 2B
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Thats a double play if hatch doesn't touch the ball. Sighhh
M.E. Verified Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Philly broadcast (Kruk ) talking about how bad Vlad is defensively
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Vlad has no luck....nice swing though.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Philly broadcast (Kruk ) talking about how bad Vlad is defensively The mistakes he makes are something you'd get pissed off at if you saw in Little League. That's the frustrating part
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Vladdy crushed that f***ing ball, 116.1. .760 xBA

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Vlad destroyed that line drive, 116 mph. It's just not his day.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Philly broadcast (Kruk ) talking about how bad Vlad is defensively Stevie Wonder could see that.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Vlad destroyed that line drive, 116 mph. It's just not his day. That would kill a pitcher right, I mean jesus. Was pretty close too that has to be terrifying.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 come on Shun.....we need you!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 The mistakes he makes are something you'd get pissed off at if you saw in Little League. That's the frustrating part He's played a total of 28 games at first base in his entire professional career.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Yeah, anyone can play 1B at the major league level who has never played it lmao Dude, he whiffed on an easy pick and seemingly doesn't have any instincts when it comes to running for a ball vs. covering first base. You don't need to be Matt Olson for the former play and after several times pulling off the latter mistake you'd think he would slowly start to learn. Some of the plays he doesn't make aren't just due to inexperience at the position, he's just not a good defender. His best attribute at first has been his arm lol.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 He's played a total of 28 games at first base in his entire professional career. Be that as it may, some of the errors (mental or physical) that he's made at first are simply due to the fact that he's not a good defender on the whole.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Ahhh....no walks we're up by 3!
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 He's played a total of 28 games at first base in his entire professional career. He went from 3b to the easiest position on the field. I'm not saying he can't improve but you'd think a major leaguer would have a better IQ on the small stuff. Its things i don't see other Big Leaguers do. Couple that with his hitting, he doesn't look ready for the big stage yet.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Author Posted September 20, 2020 I love this team, lol.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 ok...back on track...2 more outs please!
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Shun you sexy beast you.....one more!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Author Posted September 20, 2020 Throw him strikes, he suxxxxxxxx!

Couple that with his hitting, he doesn't look ready for the big stage yet. The mistakes he makes are first base specific errors, mostly picks and playing balls that he should let the 2B get. You don't really "pick" the ball at 3B, and you go for every single ball that you can get to. I'm not saying he's a good fielder (or ever will be), but the bulk of the mistakes he's making are because they're things you simply don't do at 3B. Suggesting he's not ready for the MLB is just dumb. What do you want him to do? Go back to the minors so he can demolish AAA pitching again? What is he going to learn doing that?
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 When youre up and facing a shifty hitter, id rather every pitch down the middle than walking him man.

Those mental errors are common sense type of stuff thats happening over and over. Have you seen other players in the past make those type of mistakes consistently? Obviously we should keep playing him at this stage and hope he figures it out. There's too much talent to not go that route. Was just expressing my frustration with him that hes doing nothing out there at a level I'd say was acceptable (hitting, defense, baserunning, etc.).
