JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Is Vlad destined to be a DH? Clearly
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Ok...we don't have to get stupid....just DH him the rest of the way. Shaw plays first until Rowdy is back. Again, Vladdy isn't good enough to play as a DH. His wRC+ is only 100. If you want him to play at DH, he has to have a great offense.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 s*** Vlad has been the most disappointing out of him, Biggio and Bichette. Who predicted that?
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 our bullpen is worn out too. People were defending Montoyos bullpen management because of a small sample size of stats were great....now look were we are.

If you want him to play at DH, he has to have a great offense. He still has offensive upside. If he's going to play at first and be the worst defensive 1st baseman in the league, he has to have even better offensively. He's a DH the rest of the year. It's what's best for the team.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 This is the ugliest stretch of Jays baseball i’ve seen in years. Probably since like 2012
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 How bad can we pitch. 10 runs a game

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Vlad's defense has cost us multiple games. 0 games
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Pearson and Shoemaker are needed asap
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Lol You're still stupid and annoying I see...by every measure Vlad has been the worst of the 3.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 I think it is fair to say that Vladdy should be told in the off season to not come in to camp with any weight on or he will be optioned to AAA until he gets in shape. His weight is affecting every aspect of his game from mobility, hitting, mental aspect of knowing his weight is affecting him plays on his mind, and too f***ing send a message to take his game seriously to the next level requires physical and mental clarity. Who cares if you offend him and his dad! In this f***ing game today results is everything and time to put up or be sent down until maturity on all levels kicks in!!!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 This is the ugliest stretch of Jays baseball i’ve seen in years. Probably since like 2012 Can't imagine they've ever given up more runs in a 5 game stretch. There were a couple of nut crunching stretches in September 2016. One where they went from 2 up, to 2 down in the division with a 2-7 stretch and a 3 game losing streak where they lost the wild card lead and looked done (they came back the last 2 games). Not sure how any of it compares to getting beat 58-20 and starting to get nervous you can't win the 29 games needed for a Pandemic playoff ticket.

He has already lost weight last offseason and during the season and looks in better shape now. Trolls gonna troll He has done solid in a pandemic year, playing a new position, and all as a 21 year old lmao. If the balls that hit the wall went a foot further we are talking super star season
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Vlad needs to spend the offseason with Dante.

He has done solid in a pandemic year What 6 homes runs and .245 avg and s***** OBP?, the guy can't take a walk if his life depends on it. Yes he hits the ball hard but he has not learned how to lift the ball with the launch angle nor seems to be so inclined to change how to do this... f*** how many times can a guy hit the ball on the ground. Right now he has no business hitting higher than 7th in the lineup! 2. He has already lost weight last offseason and during the season and looks in better shape now. Trolls gonna troll Dude, there is such a thing as loosing weight do too playing baseball in general and ya he maybe lost 10 pounds if lucky... His f***ing legs and arse are still huge! Anyone on this board could tell you if he really needed to loose weight and increase his mobility most guys taking it f***ing seriously could drop 20-25 pounds in 75 days including the 3 week spring training he had as well before the 60 games. The guy likes to eat plain and simple, and until he gets serious counselling to understand proper eating and food proportions he will never address his weight and there has to be a professional consequence such as AAA to let him learn this. Sure he might get f***ing grouchy and his family get all crazy but let hime come back from Triple A looking like a stud and hitting homeruns and all will be forgotten! Vladdy's center of gravity is all f***ed up and no his thick arse and legs is not going to allow him to hit home runs if he can't jolt swing is hips correctly in a homerun swing. I've noticed anything a couple of inches slightly above his knees he can't even bend to get any lift at all on the ball when he hits it compared to other players doing this. Everything he hits in the outfield is near or marginally just below the belt, everything else is hit hard to the ground. Folks that is lack of range of motion period! Not a troll just a realist who sees it for what it is!

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 1. He has done solid in a pandemic year the guy can't take a walk if his life depends on it. That part just isn't true. The least of his problems
Ray Verified Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Fine to be disappointed with Vlad, but there was always a not insignificant chance that he would follow the development path of a typical highly touted prospect as opposed to dominating right away. It takes time to adjust to major league pitching. Soto seems to be on a Mel Ott/Ted Williams trajectory as a young hitter and pretty clear that he's on another level compared to just about everyone, but Tatis, Acuna, and even Bo are outliers even amongst highly touted prospects in terms of adjusting right away and dominating. I still think Vlad could surpass them with the bat, but it might take time. We've seen flashes of it (had a higher wRC+ than Bo in August last year), it's just a matter of finding consistency. As for his defense, he's played all of 20 games(?) at 1B. He's instinctually been conditioned to play 3B basically his entire career, so it's not a surprise that those exact instincts kicked in at a seemingly inopportune time. We're probably going to see more mistakes like this happen in the next 100 or so games, but you can only hope he starts showing improvement and doesn't allow it to happen at the worst possible time.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 That part just isn't true. The least of his problems ok so he is not too bad on the walk side but there have been many at bats where he is swinging just to make contact whereas he does have superior plate coverage ability he should be taking at least 1 walk a game! As for his weight, we all know this is holding him back and until he proves us otherwise we can live in hope and say just wait till next year! We all said that about Snyder and Rios potential ability as players but those guys never blossomed to what we thought they would based on hype and the minors. I do honestly believe Vladdy can dominate this game but his weight truly is impacting his full potential as a power hitter and lift angle. Saying the balls he hit almost went out would give him elite status this year is the same as saying balls that were caught by opposing players if they dropped he would be a .400 hitter. Too nonsense to even suggest this "LetTheBallFly", actual results is all the f***ING COUNTS!!! SIMPLE! I hope your right and next year he is in great shape and dominates, but where Vladdy is now and where he needs to be for conditioning is something so hard for him to overcome or he would have already achieved it. The Cards or in this case the baseballs are stacked against him at this point. He is going to have to prove a lot of people wrong that he can be in great shape next spring.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 This is easily the worst stretch of Blue Jays pitching I can remember seeing in my 30+ years of watching. It's amazing how almost every pitcher on the roster is getting their face pounded in every time they step on the mound. At least Patrick Murphy looked decent in game one, he may give them a non-horrible option out of the bullpen going forward.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Vlad has not lived up to the massive hype before hitting the majors.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Lol We all know you are a moron no need to keep proving it. Vlad by far has been worse then the 3....the stats are there for all to see. He has no defensive value, no baserunning value and his bat has been worse...
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
