glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I mean, we know the Os are s***. The last wildcard is probably gonna be between Jays/Whitesox/Texas? Yeah I mentioned it yesterday, the only realistic options for the 7th/8th seeds (still weird to say that about baseball) will be 2 of Jays/White Sox/Rangers. Yankees, Rays, Twins, Indians, A's, and Astros should be locks. The rest of the league is rebuilding/tanking/bad (O's, Red Sox, Royals, Tigers, M's, Angels). My guess is the White Sox will get the 7th spot, mainly because they face the Central (and their bats are legit), so down to the Jays and Rangers for the final spot.

The Angels should be better than Texas but LA has already dug such a huge hole. Toronto actually has a very soft schedule coming up after 6 against Philly and Tampa. With Boston being horrendous the AL East is not a gauntlet at all: (win prob%) Aug 25, 2020 vs BOS 56.8% Aug 26, 2020 vs BOS 53.0% Aug 27, 2020 vs BOS 57.2% Aug 28, 2020 vs BAL 65.3% Aug 29, 2020 vs BAL 64.6% Aug 30, 2020 vs BAL 60.7% Aug 31, 2020 vs BAL 65.5% Sep 1, 2020 at MIA Sep 2, 2020 at MIA Sep 3, 2020 at BOS Sep 4, 2020 at BOS Sep 5, 2020 at BOS Sep 6, 2020 at BOS Then they have 17 tougher games (NYY x10, NYM x3, PHI x4) before finishing the season against Baltimore. Probably need to really do some work in the soft part because it's hard to imagine not losing a few games during the tough stretch.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 (edited) Red Sox right now are 26th in batting WAR and and 29th in pitching WAR. If we don't get some W's from them, just give up the season. Marlins and O's should be mostly W's for any team serious about postseason baseball. Phillies have a good offense and league average pitching, 9-9 record right now. Yankees will be tough, but getting to the 30 W mark and postseason by stepping on the other teams is very possible. G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 So Borucki hasn't given uo an earned run in 8 appearances? Nice
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Offensively, that might be the worst 6-9 in the batting order in Blue Jays history. f*** - today's 6 through 9 might give them a go for the record!
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
